1st Fortune [Video]

I have received more detailed explanations and far warmer introductions from bandits than I have from the townsfolk here...

[A light, soft voice, that of an older woman with a clear but not terribly powerful British accent]

Tutu? Natu natu natutu natunatu!

[The human in this one sided conversation is not on screen. Not yet. A natu, however, seems to ( Read more... )

[With all of the chaos flying around the last couple of days, and pokemon commandeering their fallen masters' pokegears to (presumably) look for help, Gaga isn't entirely surprised to hear yet another chattering animal's voice being broadcasted over the feed.

....except that this one is FAR more obnoxious than most others, and he can only tolerate a minute or so of Natunatuing before he seizes up his own 'gear, glowering into it with full intention of giving the noisy source a piece of his mind...

....and then abruptly recoils, startled by the hooded, white-eyed figure peering back at him]

Whuh--?!

[Oh it talks too? One finger taps lightly at the side as she hears the surprised sputter. Yeah, there's a sound she's familiar with.]

... Hm.

So it is a communication device.

[Don't worry, she's getting to you.]

Do tell me you are more helpful than those who live in this town.

[As he's addressed, Gaga quickly recollects himself. With soul-sucking cicada skins lurking around, he really has no business being thrown off-kilter for long by something as uneventful as a blind woman.]

That would depend entirely on what you need help with, I would imagine.

I would most appreciate an explanation. For where I am, why I am here, and perhaps a method of returning home as quickly as possible. It is not my intention to remain for terribly long.

[She'll ask about the lack of powers and the no eyesight thing later.]

Natutu! Natu! Natunatu!

Ah... yes. And perhaps an explanation as to what this little one might be.

[Information, at least, he's got plenty of. He straightens up a bit]

You are in Johto, Madam...and as for why, your guess is as good as mine. It seems SOMEONE takes delight in pulling people out of their home worlds and turning them loose in this one, with only a creature between them and everything that might attack them.

These creatures are called pokemon, and we are expected to fight them, defeat them, capture them, and train them to be our protectors. With any luck, your bird might be more useful than what *I* was given to start out.

[drooling derp-eevees ftl]

[Well she can tell you that her little softball bird actually seems to be reasonably clever. It seems to know how to be a rather efficient seeing eye animal, considering that Theresa has found the path out of New Bark and stayed on it.]

... Pokemon.

Natuuuuuu!

[The woman finally kneels and picks up the bird, which quickly hops up along her arm to her head]

I see. So, this creature is capable of fighting?

[She... doesn't sound as incredulous as one would expect.]

And what shall we gain if we comply?

Hopefully a way out of this place. I've been here since just before the winter holidays. Lady Glenda must be furious with me by now...

[more realistically, she's probably given him up for dead and gotten herself a new steward by now, but he likes to believe he's irreplaceable]

But to answer your earlier question, yes. All of them are capable of fighting. There ought to be a feature on your 'gear, there, that will tell you your bird's statistics and what moves it can be told to use....

See if aiming the front of it at your bird will activate it.

[...because damned if he knows how he's going to walk you through finding your pokedex feature from the other side of the continent 8( ]

So it is not even a certainty whether or not winning these battles will earn an escape.

[Well... not like she has any other choice here, does she?]

Oh?

[Her hands run over the device, and Gaga insists she point it at the bird. Well, she knows where it is, at least. Lets hope it has an audio function and-]

Natu, the Tiny Bird Pokemon. Because its wings aren't yet fully grown, it has to hop to get around. It is always staring at something. Current moves: Peck, Leer. Current level: Five.

... I see.

How useful. Thank you.

[Yeah, like Dib is going to miss a chance to talk to a spooky lady. He comes over, dragging along his Ralts.]

Hello!

[And she totally would answer you. If Sparrow didn't think that she was the official Ambassador of Everything. OH HELLO DIB DO YOU LIKE BIRDS? DO YOU?]

Good eveni-

Nanananatu! Tu! Tututu! Natu!

[And one tiny little green bird decides now would be a GREAT time to rocket off the ground, forgetting that its nubby wings are about as good at flying as rocks are at swimming. So, imagine getting socked in the kneecaps by a soft, fluffy wad of feathers.

... Good day.

[ATTACK OF THE BIRDS. Dib screams like a girl and falls over.

Thankfully for him, his Ralts is quick and catches him so he doesn't hit the ground too hard.]

What is that thing?!

A natu, I have been informed.

Na... tu? tu?

[Yeah, headbutting shins isn't such a great idea, is it little guy? Dizzy, the bird toddles back to Theresa, bumping into her legs a few times before plopping down right next to her feet.]

She seems to be quite sociable.

... There is no reason to be frightened of her. I have difficulty believing she is even considered a threat to insects. [Never mind small, excitable children.]

[L's soul is missing in action, but his pokemon are definitely around.]

"Niiiinetales..."

What a time to arrive... but I suppose it's fortunate that you can't see.

Hm?

[Another creature. Theresa, at this point, has more or less grasped that pokemon are a great deal smarter than your average beast. Too bad she doesn't speak the language here.]

It seems that you are not the only one capable of operating the device, Sparrow.

[WHUZZAT. FRIEND, YES? Well YOU ARE NOW. The pokegear is now covered by one natu face]

Tuuuu!

Oh hey! Hello! Hey! You! Over there! Hi! Where are you? Can we visit? Can we? We're looking for a gym! What's going on over there anyway?

[L's Ninetales is calm, graceful and motherly. She inclines her cream-colored head toward the excitable little Natu.]

I would not be adverse to visiting, little one, but I believe that we are several towns apart at present. If your trainer is new here, she will be in New Bark Town, and I am in Violet with my team awaiting our trainer's recovery.

[And Natu is... er...

Natu.]

How far away is that? Is that far? Oooooooh, something happened. What happened? What's wrong with your trainer? Are they okay? Will they get better soon? Can we help?.

[Theresa isn't going to interrupt here. Have fun, kids.]
