I just want to say that whoever is in charge of memory crystals, it really isn't fair to take someone's clothes like that without warning. That dress was not good for winter weather

Quick! and possibly Short!logblindedmewithFebruary 18 2010, 20:53:14 UTC
[With a warm coat on over a proper outfit this time, Rosalind made her way to his office at a brisk pace. It wasn't an emergency, so there was no need to run. Without context, she wasn't even sure if the information she'd gained from the memory would even be useful to him. But investigating to gather all the pertinent facts was a good place to start.
She'd never been there before, so it took some additional directions from one of the other workers, but she found herself at his door before too long, and knocked sharply.]
Probably short, yes.extantlawFebruary 20 2010, 13:40:15 UTC
[After closing his journal, Justice sat at his desk at Housekeeping silently for a few minutes, too distracted to return immediately to work. He was unsure whether to expect Rosalind sooner, rather than later - although privately he decided that sooner was more likely to indicate bad news. There was that same fear he had every time someone recalled him from a previous life - that same reminder that whatever he might do here to make amends for his past, he had been a liar and a murderer there, despite what Phoenix might claim. It was only a matter of time before someone remembered - it was only always a matter of time.
Despite several false alarms from housekeeping staff, the expected knock and voice were sooner than he had hoped for, although not as soon as indicated a mob formed of the Watch who wanted to arrest him.]
Come in.
[And she will find him seated at a desk in a rather plain office among a pile of paperwork. Propped rather incongruously in one corner of the room is a singed plastic flamingo that survived the Fire.]

[After entering, Rosalind grinned when she saw him. She'd liked Mr. Justice well enough from what she'd known of him--he was stern, but also smart and calm and he'd been nice to her when River disappeared. But now that she was sure they'd known each other, even if she didn't understand exactly how, she felt a small, extra thrill. It was like a connection to herself, even though she'd been here the whole time.
He didn't look as happy, but then, he probably had a lot of work to do. Best to be quick about it.]
Hi--gosh, this office looks different from your other one.
[It was just as tidy, but not as grand. She wondered what he had done before he came here. More administration? No, probably not. Something about the memory made him seem more important.]Um, I don't want to take much of your time, but I thought it was important to let you know we're from the same place. When I touched the crystal I found, I remembered being in an office--it must have been yours, because you were sitting at the desk. You dropped what you were writing and

[He pushed himself to his feet as the door opened, his manners too ingrained to be over-ridden, even in the face of possible damnation. if he was worried, it didn't show on his face save for the fact that his smile - which would generally have been an honest one for Rosalind - was more of the kind he offered to Wright when attempting to evade concerns for his health. But whatever he might have said as a greeting vanished at her words.]
It's... I suppose it is, yes.
[Justice blinked, a slight frown as he looked around, recalling the office at Medical and wondering what, in particular, had prompted the remark. Fortunately, before he could make an idiot of himself by passing comment on a comparison of the two, Rosalind continued speaking and things became a little clearer.]

[It wasn't lost on her that she'd practically burst in and dumped everything she knew on him at once, and that wasn't very helpful to anyone. But knowing a little more about herself, and where she'd come from, had gotten her more excited than she'd realized.
She took a seat, forcing herself to slow down and breathe evenly. This could be important.]
Okay. There isn't much of a beginning-I was walking through the park when I found a memory crystal off to the side of the path, and when I touched it I could see you and a man dressed in a blue suit in a nice office. He had spiky hair and you were dressed sort of fancy. I could smell, but nothing strange-just books and things.
[They'd known Justice. That much she was sure of. He hadn't looked happy to see them, but there had been a sense of familiarity-it hadn't been a chance meeting.]I'm not sure why we were there, but it looked like the other man and I had come together, because we were standing and you were sitting down. When you dropped your letter, I think he tried

[She sat, and he followed suit, keeping his eyes on her face, although not so obviously as to make her - or himself - uncomfortable. Her speech was stil hurried, and he held up his hand again as she drew breath for the next assault]
Wait. A man in a blue suit? With spiky hair? Do you mean Wri... Truth? The man with whom I share a home here?
And this office.... was there a wall filled with bookshelves and long, pink curtains covering a window behind the desk? Describe what you could smell, if you please.
[His own memories of the office from his crystal had been those of sight and scent also - he was certain that her answers would either rule out or confirm that they had experienced the same place.]
If you were in the company of Wright, I doubt he knew himself.
[Somehow, the convoluted information about the letter and the distraction made more sense the moment that he knew Wright was involved. Not that he had any idea why Wright would want to avail himself of his abandoned stationery, but that there was hardly anything that Justice

Is that what Mr. Truth looks like? I've never actually met him. He's very nice over the journals, though. And I never knew!
[Would she have noticed anything familiar about him if they had met? It felt like she'd missed an obvious opportunity, but then the blue man in her dream had been so blurry. There was no way to know, now.]
Yes, that's it! That's exactly where we were. There was also a neat little samurai doll by the window.
I smelled...tea, I think, and flowers. And paper, like when you have a lot of books or paper in one place. Some cleaning polish, maybe. Don't worry, it wasn't stinky-I probably wouldn't even have noticed all that if I could do anything but see and sniff.
[For some reason, she felt anxious at the idea of criticizing him or his office. It was a great office! So tidy and full of useful things. One only a true professional would use.
She winced at the idea of the dress, though. It could have been worse, but it was definitely not to her taste.]I changed out of the dress back at home before coming here. It was

He is not overly inclined to wear a suit, but he does favour blue, and his hair is generally spikey, yes. Whether he likes it or not.
[He might also have added "he also seems to have a habit of collecting young girls", as he remembered the information that Medium had provided, and Truth's friendship with Blood. But even Justice was aware that the humour might sound dubious to Rosalind, and he was not unkind enough to risk having Truth regarded as some kind of sexual pervert by the rest of the Watch, amusing as the idea might be for a passing moment.]
He is also... very kind.
[Justice glanced away from Rosalind as he said it, the expression of such opinions making him uncomfortable even despite that fact that she did not know Truth in the slightest - or at least not here. He sat back in his chair, and regarded her quietly as she listed the things that she recalled about the office in her memory. It was undoubtedly the same one that he had seen in his, and he had been sure that it belonged to him when he recalled it himself. It just

He sound really nice. I guess he probably doesn't remember me, but I'm glad he's here, too.
[She wanted to meet him, but even though she didn't want to admit it, she felt a little shy about the idea. What did you say to someone who was important enough to be in your dream when you didn't even know why? But she could think about that later.]
I just wish I knew why we were there, in my memory. Apollo said we worked together in his, but it was an older me. And I don't think your office would be a crime scene anyway.
[She closed her eyes for a few moments at his question, trying to remember word-for-word what he had written. It had been unfinished, but its intent was clear.]
Your letter was--it was a letter of resignation. Whatever your job was, you'd decided to leave it. I don't think you wanted us to see it; you weren't even done writing it.
Regardless of whether Wright... - Truth remembers you or not, I'm certain he would wish to meet you, since you remember him.
[On the face of it, it seemed unlikely that Rosalind had been one of Wright's clients. Justice would have been hard-pressed to think of anyone less likely to commit a crime here - except possibly Youth - but then Wright adamantly believed that in his previous life he had championed the innocent. He hesitated before he answered her, picking up a pen and assuming a smile that did not quite meet his eyes.]
Wright and I... we were both lawyers. It's possible that we were discussing a case, although Wright believes that he and I knew each other on a personal level, so it may have been unrelated to work. As for your own presence...
[Justice hesitated there, tapping the pen lightly on the pile of papers in front of him.]
Without more evidence, it's impossible to speculate. Perhaps Wright might surprise us with a flash of insight.
[There was a brief smirk at that before his expression sobered as she described the

[Maybe not today. This felt like so much so fast, even though it wasn't all that much. If she wrote it down, it probably wouldn't even fill a whole page. But it meant something to Rosalind, and she wanted to think about it, and maybe ask Lea and Kagerou what they thought.]
Lawyers...I see! You must have been a very good one to have such a nice office.
[She'd never given lawyers much thought, even though she'd known other people besides the Watch would have to handle things if they did catch any criminals who did really bad things. The law didn't have a lot to do with science. But she could easily imagine Justice in court, arguing his point decisively and convincing others of his case with a decisive summation. It was probably thrilling.]
Thank you for talking with me. I hope I can remember more soon.
[She knew a polite dismissal when she heard one, and anyway she knew he must be very busy, so she gave him a smile and a quick nod before standing to go.]
Sorry but Medium was here when they had this chat ;_;extantlawMarch 1 2010, 17:54:25 UTC
If he does not remember you, I suggest that you speak to Medium. She also has memories of myself and Wright.
[Justice blinked at the enthusiastic compliment, momentarily unsure how to respond other than with an amusement that he was certain she would not appreciate. Instead he allowed himself a brief but nevertheless genuine smile in an attempt to relieve the combination of awkwardness and humour that Rosalind's words provoked.]
I... would hope that was the case, certainly.
[Her abrupt nod and movememt to leave caught him by surprise and he hurriedly got to his own feet in response, with a polite nod of his own to acknowledge her words. His fingers tapped lightly on the desk as she turned to leave, a memory of a conversation he had with Spirit in the Park shortly before she vanished prompting him to say more.]
Rosalind... I regret that I have no pertinent memories of my own to share with you.
It's cool—makes perfect sense to mention her.blindedmewithMarch 1 2010, 20:07:29 UTC
She's the girl with the black hair and the topknot, right? I know her. She's really nice! And if I knew Mr. Truth before, maybe she and I were friends too.
[She liked the idea of that. Lea was great, and River had been the best little brother she could have asked for-even if he did focus a little too much on the health food thing-but sometimes Rosalind just wanted a girl friend her own age, like Kagerou.]
It's okay.
[Justice had a nice smile but he looked a little regretful when he spoke. She didn't like that-it was a good thing that she'd learned something about them today, and even if it wasn't a lot, she'd just have to examine the evidence they had in order to figure out more.]
We all forgot so much that it's not that likely we'd remember each other quickly, is it? I must be really lucky that I remembered you two at all. I'm sure we'll remember more. Thank you, Mr. Justice.
Yes, that sounds like Medium - and I would say that is entirely possible.
[Another brief smile at her burst of enthusiasm - really, now that he thought about it, there were similarities between the two girls that he had not noted before. Certainly Medium had a rather... unique way of viewing the world, but still, he had enough acquaintance with her to have noted that she was often perceptive and far from unintelligent.]
I hope you're right. However, if I happen to recall anything, I will let you know immediately.
[It was the same promise that he had made Spirit shortly before she disappeared. Despite how uncomfortable the woman made him feel, he had meant it at the time - whatever his past crimes or actions, he had no right to withhold the truth from others he might have known in the past. As she reached for the door-handle he picked up his pen, tapping it lightly on the desk, half in thought]
And Rosalind? Please call me Edgeworth. And give my regards to Stoneface.
[She would have to think about this. Even if she only remembered them a little, and even if they didn't remember her at all yet-or maybe even ever-there was still a whole world of possibility open to her now. Nothing but pure potential.]
I will. And I appreciate it.
[She smiled and raised a hand in farewell as she left his office. Even if he was sometimes grumpy, he was still a lot kinder than some people thought.]
She'd never been there before, so it took some additional directions from one of the other workers, but she found herself at his door before too long, and knocked sharply.]
