Oh, this is simply gorgeous. I particularly liked Roy Watson's and Anderson's. It's a nice change to read something humanising about Anderson, where he's a normal guy just trying to do his job. His lack of judgement about John was very refreshing.

The one with John's dad was just heartbreaking, and possibly even more so seeing it from his POV rather than John's.

I love the detail you've added to what Pullman gives about daemons in HDM-- what different forms represent, what their interactions mean, etc., whilst still remaining so true to what they are in HDM. The way you tie in details, like bears being impossible to trick, is brilliance.

Amarisa and Raniel are such interesting characters, and this is a brilliant insight into John and Amarisa. Made my day, frankly :D

Thanks! I was originally going to write Lestrade's POV for that bit, then I remembered that we'd had Lestrade's thoughts on Amarisa already. But we hadn't had Anderson's, and I felt it was time for him to be in the spotlight for a bit.

And I put in a throwaway line in the original story about John's family having trouble accepting Amarisa, which I felt just begged to be expanded on.

Oh, I love this insight into John and Amarisa's life, through others' eyes! The one with his father is heartbreaking, and I agree it's nice to see Anderson humanised here. And of course Sherlock cuts right through all the BS:
