ROUND TWELVE THEME LIST
Musical Cues!
This Is the Day, by The The
You've been reading some old letters
You smile and think how much you've changed
All the money in the world
Couldn't bring back those days.
lyrics,
song Believe by Arashi
Yeah, we’ll keep waiting, keep waiting forever
On this road that goes on forever
I’ll hold it in my heart forever; this dream is sure to come true
I’ll keep going, crying and laughing all the way
lyrics,
song Session 9, by Monoral
Tell me how it use to be
'Cause it seems to fade away
Take a walk and think of me
And show me who you'll be
lyrics,
song Future Nova, by School Food Punishment
When you clap me on the shoulder, I get worn away and become smaller,
But I’m sure that the core that remains in me will shine brighter than anything.
lyrics,
song Built to Last, by Grateful Dead
Built to last till time itself
Falls tumbling from the wall
Built to last till sunshine fails
And darkness moves on all
Built to last while years roll past
Like cloudscapes in the sky
Show me something built to last
Or something built to try
lyrics,
song A Place to go, by High and Mighty color
But just talking to you
Right now
Puts the same old smile I had then back on my face
Before I know it
lyrics,
song Walk of Life, by Dire Straits
He got the action, he got the motion
Oh Yeah the boy can play
Dedication devotion
Turning all the night time into the day
lyrics,
song Dear My Friend, by Every little thing
Yeah, we don’t just love each other
We understand each other, talk with each other
I want us to always have that kind of relationship

Made him want to be everywhere
There's a lot to be said for nowhere
lyrics, song Let's brand New Wave by An Café
With raging waves of a revolution that exceeds your imagination, swallow up and steal away this generation
With senses you have never had before, break the head that thinks from a stupid manual Break out...
lyrics,
song Words to Think By!
There is a mysterious cycle in human events. To some generations much is given. Of other generations much is expected.
Franklin D. Roosevelt
Few will have the greatness to bend history itself; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total; of all those acts will be written the history of this generation.
Robert Kennedy
The young do not know enough to be prudent, and therefore they attempt the impossible - and achieve it, generation after generation.
Pearl S. Buck
If you look deeply into the palm of your hand, you will see your parents and all generations of your ancestors. All of them are alive in this moment. Each is present in your body. You are the continuation of each of these people.
Thich Nhat Hanh
The generations of living things pass in a short time, and like runners hand on the torch of life.
Lucretius
I seem to have dodged all my days with one or two persons, and lived upon expectation,-as if the bud would surely blossom; and so I am content to live.
Henry David Thoreau
We need to encourage members of this next generation to become all that they can become, not try to force them to become what we want them to become. . . . You and I can't even begin to dream the dreams this next generation is going to dream, or answer the questions that will be put to them.
Barbara Coloroso
A man must be sacrificed now and again To provide for the next generation of men.
Amy Lowell
If you would be a leader of men you must lead your own generation, not the next. Your playing must be good now, while the play is on the boards and the audience in the seats.... It will not get you the repute of a good actor to have excellencies discovered in you afterwards.
Woodrow Wilson
The endless cycle of idea and action,
Endless invention, endless experiment,
Brings knowledge of motion, but not of stillness;
Knowledge of speech, but not of silence;
Knowledge of words, and ignorance of the Word.
All our knowledge brings us nearer to our ignorance.
T.S. Eliot

Round Eleven Themes The theme challenge is completely voluntary, intended for fun and stimulation.
For inclusion in the theme challenge, your submission must list each theme you used. Both the author that earns the most points for a single fic and the one who earns the most points overall win be eligible for a prize. However, the winner of the theme challenge will not necessarily be the person who uses the most themes, so please don't feel obliged to cram in as many themes as you can. Rather, we hope that you will take a theme or group of themes that you find interesting and use them to write a great story.
We will be judging your theme usage on the following criteria:
1. Frequency: how often is the theme explicitly (or implicitly) referenced in the story
2. Accuracy: how accurately has the theme been used
3. Purpose: how integral is the theme to the story
4. Execution: how smoothly the theme has been incorporated into the story
5. Creativity: how creatively the theme has been interpreted
For each theme you include in your submission, we will assign a point value from 1 to 5 for each of the above criteria. All the points for all the themes will be added up, and the writer with the highest number of points will be awarded a prize for their efforts. Since we realize that all of these criteria are highly subjective, all of the mods will do our evaluations independently and take the average to determine the point totals.
