[ Errbody seems to be getting worked up about that one door. Was that door there before? Daniel's never had reason to count them. If it wasn't, who put it there? And if it was, then what's so special about it
( Read more... )
[ Bhamba hears the question and approaches Daniel, glancing at the door as he does.
His life is good and magic can suck science's cock, so he is really only here to watch everyone else obsess. ]
It is a very large door.
[ That should explain everything, if the tone of his voice is to be believed.
Incidentally, if it looks like there's a crocodile waiting patiently a few feet away from Bhamba, then that's because there's a crocodile waiting patiently a few feet away from Bhamba. ]
[ Daniel's always been a skeptic, and relatively recent events have only convinced him that (a) magic exists, but (b) it is the pursuit of crazy arseholes. Is Dan a crazy asshole? He'd like to think not! ]
The way people are gathering, one would think it was belching forth one hundred pounds every--
[ --holy shit there's a crocodile out here. ]
God damn it, that's a-- Sir, behind you!
[ Shit shit shit. Daniel's going to have to seriously rethink his policy of no longer going armed. ]
[ Bhamba turns around. Looks at the few people behind him. Looks at the regular doors further away. Looks at just about everything in that direction that could possibly warrant this outburst. ]
[ Daniel stutters. He'd call Bhamba on his failure to spot the rather large and obvious crocodile on the floor not a few feet away... if he could be sure that the large and obvious crocodile was really there.
He doesn't know why he should be seeing things, unless he's more stressed than he thought. But he also doesn't know why this man would pretend not to see the deadly predator in the room. ]

[ So, with an effort, he makes himself stop staring at the crocodile. Horrible death does not immediately ensue, which is at least a small relief. ]
[ Well, Bhamba's good at being a distraction from the crocodile problem. Dan'll answer your question when he's done trying to work out whether the rat thing was an insult. ]
[ At this moment Amy chooses to make her presence known again. She hisses and moves closer to Bhamba. This trip shouldn't take them so long.
True, she does enjoy meeting new people, but she is all too bored by this door and would prefer to go back to their lab, spend more time with her eggs and such. ]
[ Daniel really does try not to react to the imaginary crocodile, but it's difficult, you know? He steps back with a noise of alarm, then glances at Bhamba and tries to cover for it with a cough.
[These days Bhamba is gradually beginning to accept that not everyone embraces Amy's presence the way he does. So every once in a while he actually remembers to make an attempt at reassurance. ]
Don't worry about her, she just gets bored easily sometimes.
Daniel stares between Amy and Bhamba, not sure whether to be frightened that the crocodile is apparently real or annoyed that Bhamba was deceiving him (because that was totally on purpose, yo). ]
You see it too? Why did you pretend that you could not?!

I hardly had a moment to catch the beast!
