Election reminder for Christians

I have a lot of people on my f-list who are anti-Obama.  I don't agree with his policies or beliefs either.  But since I believe he's going to get elected, I think it's a good time for a reminder of what the Bible says about how we are to observe authority:

Rom 13:1  Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no ( Read more... )

Murder is murder and the whole reason we vote is because each of us is allowed to have a choice and an opinion on the matter. Does that mean I intend to break the law simply because I don't want Obama in office? Not by any means, but I am allowed not to like what the man stands for. Does this mean, that is all there is to the person. No. Does this mean I don't like Obama as a person? I don't even know him personally so theres no way to know, but I do know what he stands for and he stands for murder. I wont vote for him. Abortion sickens me and for anyone to say its perfectly acceptable to murder a baby whether unborn or not, is not someone I want to see in office and as an American I'm allowed to voice that opinion. As a Christian I'm also entitled to stand up for my beliefs... I am neither slandering Obama as a person or hurting anyone with my opinions or actions. Thank you for posting this. It was a good reminder for me. I have a tendency to be very blunt at times and I am sure there are times I have come across as offensive. I still need to work on being careful how I put things at times. I know I am guilty of not handling myself in a Christian manner at times when referring to different people and what they stand for. Unfortunately tact has never been one of my strong points. I try to handle myself in a Christian manner, but I fall short many times. I can think of several times that after I have said something that I would have the thought "what if someone that was not saved heard me speak" knowing that I could have easily destroyed my testimony by my words. I probably got off track here, but I also have a tendency to do that.

I have to remind myself a lot too. This was as much for me as it was for anyone else.

I'm glad you got something out of it. :)
