Michael works from 5:00 AM until 1:30 PM. He's a slow mover in the morning since he doesn't have his ADHD meds in his system yet. He literally can't get ready in the amount of time most of us can. So we get up at 2:00 and he leaves the house at 4:00.
Everything takes longer for someone with ADHD. That's something I never gave any thought to before. It takes him 2 hours to get ready for work. His commute is 30 minutes if there's no traffic (2 hours in peak times - which is why he works these odd hours), yet he leaves an hour before work starts because he needs 30 minutes to "settle in" at work. At home, a job that would take you or I 30 minutes takes him at least an hour. And that's with meds!
Life is interesting around here, to say the least...
That used to be more of a problem for Michael before he got on the Adderall. I used to call him the "King of half-assed." That was before we knew why he did things the way he did. Now I just re-focus him if it happens. Or remind him to take his meds.
I would get so frustrated before, I'd ask him to take out the trash, he'd take it out of the house and come back in, later I'd find it in the driveway. I'd ask him to pick up his things in the living room and he'd pick up two things and leave four... It was like nothing ever got finished and I had to follow him around and remind him to finish his tasks.
But mostly he just sat around. He has what is called Inattentive ADD. That means that they look lazy, but it's just that they get so overwhelmed with life that they can't focus on anything. He does much better now, but I still have to prod him a LOT. At least now when I prod, it works.

See what I wrote to tallblue as to why we go to bed so early.
It doesn't work so well though, I went to sleep and woke up and it's not even midnight yet. Good thing I have my laptop here!
