YST-SW40 Subwoofer Repair

I am posting this in case any other folks out there are having this mfg's defect issue and need help on how to repair it.

Assuming it's a direct-firing sub and not a ported enclosure, I would stuff the speaker enclosure with some kind of acoustic batting (I'm guessing, rather cynically, that the manufacturer did not do this); apart from improving your bass response, it may help cut down on the internal vibrations that caused the problem in the first place.

Also, some kind of floor spikes under the sub might help, by acoustically anchoring the sub to the floor (it will almost certainly help the performance).

Acoustically you are very correct adding some batting would slow the sound waves and add depth to the bass even on this ported unit ( ... )

Sounds like it might be time to see about fixing up that A/V receiver to drive it. :)
