This is something I've never done before and I hope it's okay. It has been made for stargateland crossover challenge.

the prompt I choose to use was "CLUE" On some of the icons the prompt was used usely as in searching for something b/c my reasoning was if you need a clue you're looking for something.

Word Count: 1057

Vala swallowed the lump that kept creeping back into her throat. The damn thing refused to go away. She knew this was the only way. She knew this was the right decision. So why the hell did it feel so wrong? They could never work. He was way to duty bound, not nearly enough fun. Not to mention he was a Jedi. Something she’d never even heard of up until three months ago when the accident had happened with the Stargate and somehow she’d wound up a long way from home with no way of returning. Oh so she’d thought. Now some genius in this galaxy had fixed the dialing device and she could get back home. Only a part of her didn’t want to go. Not that there was any point in staying. Even if she were crazy enough to attempt a relationship other than friendship with him, it was forbidden. Something she found to be insane and incredibly stupid. Telling someone not to love or form attachments was like saying not to bother living at all. What was life without love and relationships with others.

Obi-wan would never admit it, but she knew he didn’t completely agree with it either. His fellow Jedi Anakin certainly didn’t. In fact Vala was pretty damn sure he was breaking the rules.

She heard a soft cough behind her and a smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. She turned away from the offensive Stargate and sighed.

Obi-Wan Kenobi stood behind her, his expression carefully guarded. A gentle, yet unsure smile lit up his face. “You must be happy M’lady.”

She shook her head. “Don’t start with that M’lady crap again Obi.” She quipped.

“Oh but it is alright that you butcher my name.” He made a half assed attempt to glare at her.

Vala snickered and they both started laughing like idiots. It was an old argument between the two of them. She felt some of the tension in her shoulders melt away.

She reached out and squeezed his forearm. “You’re going to be so lost without me Kenobi.”

To her surprise he didn’t pull away, in fact he stepped a bit closer. “I know.”

She blinked. “I honestly didn’t expect you to admit that.”

He chuckled. “Perhaps you have taught me a thing or two about speaking what is on my mind.”

She grinned. “I guess I do tend to make a habit of doing that. Even when I put my foot in my mouth.”

“Especially when you put your foot in your mouth.” He replied.

“I can’t argue with that. Obi-Wan I…” She had to swallow that lump down again.

She felt his warm fingers caress her cheek. “Yes.” He whispered.

Vala took a deep breath and blurted. “I just want, no I need you to know I’m going to miss you. I know I drove you nuts most of the time but-”

His fingers moved to her lips silencing her. “Vala. You didn’t annoy me nearly as much as I may have let on. I was only trying to…you know I have certain obligations. If there was anyway things could be different between us,” he closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

“I know,” she whispered. “Despite it all you need to know I’ll never regret meeting you.”

“Thank you.” He breathed.

“I’ll be leaving later tonight. I have some other people I have to say goodbye to. I never thought it would be this hard to leave. When I first got here all I could think about was getting back. Now in only a few months this place was already starting to feel like home.”

He was silent, his face in thinking mode. Vala always loved that expression. She wanted to remember him like this. Tender and thoughtful. He really wasn’t as straight laced as he let on. There was a whole other side to him he kept hidden. She’d seen glimpses of it. She wished she had more time to see more. A lot more.

“You could stay.”

“What?” She gasped.

He met her gaze. “You could stay.”

The moment he said it she knew he meant it. And she also knew it was what she’d wanted to hear all along. It was what she’d been hoping for.

“But what about what you just said about obligations and-”

“I know I don’t want you to leave Vala.” He pinched the bridge of his nose. “I know what I said. I know it is the right thing to do. But it is not what feels right to me.”

Vala felt her heart jump. “I really hope you mean what you’re saying right now.”

“I do.”

She could see how much this was costing him. The Jedi way of life was all he knew.

“I understand how hard it is to change who you are Obi-Wan.”

“I know you do. It was you who taught me that making a terrifying, life altering decision can change your life in amazing and wonderful ways.”

Vala felt her eyes fill with moisture. “I’m glad that’s what you took from my life story.”

“I have learned many things from you.”

“And I’ve learned even more from you.” She admitted.

“Who would have ever thought you would learn to enjoy a little meditation here and there.” He grinned.

She laughed. “Only for you Obi.”

He shook his head but the smile didn’t leave his face.

“I guess I’m going to have a lot more time to practice meditating.”

He cocked his head.

“Since you‘re stuck with me.”

The look on his face was worth it all. Her heart leapt for joy. She realized at that moment that she loved him. She was so screwed.

“That is most excellent news indeed M’lady.”

She nudged him with her shoulder. “How about tossing me a few clues. Where do we go from here?”

His hands took hers. “I believe it was you who said on the first day I met you: “Let’s take it one day at a time.”

“That sounds like a plan to me.”

Vala knew this would all work out somehow. She knew it was sappy as hell, but she honestly believed that things would work themselves out. Somehow they would figure this out. As long as they were together she could care less where life took them.

Author/artist notes: I actually started out making graphics to these two because Vala is my favorite female character in Stargate and Obi-wan is my favorite male in star wars. In the process of doing this i actually started to ship them. So I got inspired to write a fic as well. I think they would be a fun, different type of pairing. I can see them bantering and bringing out sides to each other you normally might not see. I'm so glad I did this challenge I was nervous because i've never done any type of crossover before but i had a lot of fun.

Feel free to friend this journal for updates :)

COMMENTS make my day. If anybody actually reads/or snags anything. I'd love to know.
