They emerged from hyperspace, and Cas dug his fingers into the seat as they were thrust forward from the sudden stop. His eyes met Dean’s as the vessel stabilized, and they both stood, heading towards the cockpit to look out through the large view port.

Bobby angled his head, and flashed them a world-weary smile. “Welcome home boys.”

They weren’t close enough to Coruscant to see anything yet. They’d come out of hyperspace a safe distance away to make sure they weren’t detected - the planet was still a spec in the horizon.

But it was getting larger as Bobby slowly brought them in closer.

Cas could feel Anna and Sam behind them, all watching with baited breath.

Hoping and praying the planet was fine - that they had all just been being paranoid.

They weren’t so lucky.

As they crept in using a nearby asteroid field for additional cover - the space surrounding the planet was in chaos.

Flashing lights from weapons fire lit up like a firework show on Naboo.

It was hard to take it all in - there were so many ships.

One exploded off to their right; Cas felt their ship shake from the shock wave it produced.

It was hard to know who was on what side - but from what Cas could tell, both sides had taken losses. However, the Republic was on the defensive, while Roman’s mercenaries ships, were pushing forward.

He remembered Sam telling them Roman was building ships - he had been correct. The Republic’s own resources had been used against them.

So much destruction.

Cas had to concentrate to block out the mental pain, and fear from the soldiers. This had come out of nowhere, and they were all struggling to keep up with the assault.

Dean placed a hand on Bobby’s shoulder. “Take us in, nice and easy. If they spot us, this will be over before you can blink.”

Bobby harrumphed. “Yeah. You can say that again.”

******

Bobby set them down several miles from the temple, behind a large building that had been spared most of the combat. It offered some measure of protection from the violence outside, and it kept their ship camouflaged.

Cas checked his saber, and slid a blade into his belt. He saw Dean arming himself with a blaster, and several bladed weapons. Anna had removed her sling, but he could tell by the way she was holding her arm it wasn’t fully healed. She had been working to further heal herself with meditation, but she only had so much ability in that regard. It was a skill Cas wanted to work with her more on, there just hadn’t been time.

If he survived this day, he would make the time.

He walked over to her, as she grabbed a blaster for herself.

“Anna,” he said quietly, so only she could hear.

Her head lifted, and her eyes were attentive. “Yes, Master.”

He noticed whenever things got serious, she addressed him with the title of respect. He smiled, and was relieved to see the tension around her eyes, and shoulders was less noticeable. She wasn’t in much pain anymore - but that would change if she went into battle without allowing herself time to heal fully.

“I want you to stay with the ship.”

Her hazel eyes widened, while her lips pressed into a thin line. “What?”

Cas sighed. “Anna, you are still injured.”

“I can still fight. I can handle myself.”

“I know you can,” he said softly. “But you aren’t at your best, and getting yourself killed won’t do anyone any good.”

She stared at him a moment, her gaze steady. She used her injured arm, and grabbed her light saber, bringing it to bare, extending her arm, back, forward, side to side, with barely a grimace, then she holstered it again. “I’m going.”

Cas exhaled, but didn’t object. He knew it would do no good.

“I know you’re worried about me, and I appreciate it. Hell, I’m worried about you as well,” she smirked, then stood tall. “But it’s my choice. I won’t stay behind while the people I love are fighting for my freedom.”

She wasn’t a child anymore, and she was right. He would have made the same choice if he’d been in her shoes.

Cas swallowed. “I grow prouder of you everyday.”

She blinked a few times, then hugged him tightly.

He embraced her back.

Bobby watched them all step off the ramp with his blaster in hand - the four of them were some of the bravest, people he’d ever known.

Or maybe just some of the stupidest.

He just hoped it wasn’t the last time he’d see them alive.

He wasn’t naïve; he knew the odds were against them.

It always was, and somehow they were all still alive.

But this was different.

The entire planet was being attacked, fights happening in the streets. Enemy droids, mercenaries, and dark Jedi roamed the alley’s and rooftops.

Even if they reached the temple, and found Roman, he might kill them.

He was a Sith Lord. Something the galaxy hadn’t seen in a long time.

They were powerful, deadly, and ruthless.

Hell, the man was in a good position to take Coruscant, and destroy the Order.

He was smart, and he’d been patient. Until they’d gone and fucked up his plans, forcing him to act sooner than he’d planned.

That was their one saving grace.

He just hoped it would be enough - that the Chancellor wasn’t as prepared as he’d wanted to be, that they could find each weak spot and drive a stake through them.

He just didn’t want to lose anyone else he cared about to get the job done.

Those sons-of-hutt’s had taken Ellen from him. He’d already lost her once, the damned order and its damned rules. But this time had been different. He’d thought maybe, for just a moment they might have a second chance. Instead she’d been taken from him again.

He really hoped they killed that piece of shit.

“Look’s like its just me and you old man.”

Bobby glared at Meg, her feet and legs were bound, and she was sprawled out on the floor, expression bored.

Being older sucked. It meant you got left behind to guard the ship and the prisoner while the kids had all the fun. He knew it was necessary - they had to make sure Meg didn’t sneak off and betray them. Not that she had anywhere to go.

“Your friends don’t show up and pull the weight in this fight they promised, and this blaster will be the last thing you ever see.”

“Oh, they’ll show up. The real question is, can The fearsome foursome pull off their end of the plan.”

Bobby saw them disappear behind a building.

They’d damn well better, or this was going to be a really long day.

Dean could feel Anna on his and Cas’s heels. She was shadowing them silently, and gracefully. He was impressed, the kid, wasn’t exactly a kid anymore. She was older than her years, and Sam, he was keeping up as well. He was good at sneaking around, and he was armed to the teeth. Blades, blasters, and pulse rifles.

They stayed low to the ground, sticking close to the walls. They’d crept past several droid sentries patrolling the streets. Armies of them, their metallic feet clanging in the distance. Dean could feel the dark, power of the dark side of the force bleeding into the air. He didn’t know how many Dark Jedi prowled the city, but he knew it was too many for them to take on alone. He only hoped when they reached the temple they’d find the help they needed.

It was disturbing, seeing the beautiful streets painted with blood, and weapon burns. Innocents bodies littered the sidewalks, and streets. Roman wasn’t fucking around.

He was taking this planet by force, and fear. And once he had it, he’d rule with that fear. No one would challenge him after he slaughtered the senate leaders, and the Jedi.

Dean felt his heart in his throat as they neared Kinsa’s Diner. He’d lived there for years, it had been a home to him, she’d been a good friend, and damn he’d forgotten how much he loved that place.

Her normally brightly lit sign hung limp, broken and smashed. The door was kicked inwards, and blue and red blood smattered the windows. He didn’t go inside, he couldn’t.

He didn’t want to find Kinsa in there, dead in the place she’d worked so hard to make. He tried to imagine that maybe she wasn’t there when the attack hit, maybe she’d been out. But he knew better, she’d always opened rain or shine. She’d loved that diner, and she’d loved her customers.

He felt Cas’s fingers grip his shoulder, a silent show of love and support.

He’d grieve later for all those that were lost.

For now, he wanted to hit something.

A single bounty hunter, dressed in red and black, with markings painted across his face leapt down from a shallow rooftop.

Dean watched him step over the body of a fallen women. He bent down, kicked her face, ensuring she was dead. Then he began to dig into her pockets, searching for credits, and other valuables.

It seemed he was going to get his wish.

Dean checked his surroundings, sticking to the shadows, he moved behind a hover car that was behind the man.

Besides the screams in the distance, and weapons fire, and explosions rippling across the city, it was clear.

He silently leapt over the car, grabbed the man by the throat, and placed his blade to his jugular.

“Don’t move, and maybe you live through the next five minutes,” he hissed into his ear.

The man froze.

“Good boy,” Dean growled, and drug him back into the alley where Cas, Anna, and Sam were waiting.

Cas gave him an approving nod.

It was time to find out what this little shit knew.

“I’m not gonna tell you nuttin.” The man tried to sound brave, but he wasn’t one of the tough guys. He was a scavenger. He prayed off of the weak, and they were not victims.

Cas smiled in a way that both surprised and turned Dean on more than he’d like to admit. It was terrifying, and sexy as fuck.

“Oh, but you will,” Cas raised his hand, and spoke in a tone that rang with authority and held no doubt.” “You want to tell me everything.”

The man’s body went limp in Dean’s arms. “I want to tell you everything,” he repeated dreamily.

Sam looked more than a little impressed.

Dean grinned; he loved when Cas did that.

Ten minutes later they knew what route to take to reach the temple with least resistance. Unfortunately that had been about all he could tell them that they didn’t already know.

Although he had confirmed there was a battle raging in the Temple - which was exactly what they’d expected.

If there was still fighting, it meant the Jedi weren’t going down easy, it meant there was still hope.

They moved quickly, and quietly, the sounds of cries, and the smell of burned flesh seemed to follow them everywhere.

When the temple came into view Dean felt his world shake.

The once massive, city sized structure that had stood proud and unshakeable against injustice was under seige.

Black smoke snaked up from the Spier, fires raged, windows were smashed. The steps that Dean had taken so many times were covered with death.

Bodies lay crumpled, fallen weapons sat unclaimed, blood trickled onto the sidewalk. Statues were toppled, all of this in little more than a day.

It was everything they had feared and more.

He could feel Cas and Anna trying to take it all in, and he could feel their pain.

They may have left this place, but it had been such a part of their lives since they were infants. It had brought them all together, and now it was barely clinging to life.

“I’m so sorry,” Sam breathed.

“Yeah,” Dean replied.

A scream.

Dean’s head jerked upward towards the sound.

Someone exploded out from a window high up along the temples walls. Their body hit the ground not far from them with a sickening crack.

Dean recognized the librarian - she’d helped him find several texts over the years. A kind old woman, who’d done nothing to deserve this fate.

“Let’s get this done,” Dean growled.

“Yes,” Cas agreed, his tone dark, and focused.

They raced up the steps, heading towards the entrance, knowing this was where the battle was either going to be won or lost.

Part 7

A/N: Sorry this one took longer to get posted, I've been very sick. I had to go to the Emergency room two nights in a row. Yeah, it sucked. I'm doing better now, I finally feel human again.

Feel free to friend this journal for the insanity.

Comments are always welcomed, and appreciated.
