Cas peered through the window, squinting down at the planet Bendii - he could see a few oceans, and several landmasses. The sky was clear, and the planet’s sun’s bathed the world in orange and red light. It seemed lovely from up here - once they landed it was likely to seem less hospitable.

Especially since the planet’s atmosphere made it next to impossible to communicate via a comm system. Once they were down there, they wouldn’t be able to contact the ship. They’d be on their own.

He reached behind his neck intending to pull up his hood as they descended slowly, but steadily. He sighed as he remembered he no longer wore his robes - it was strange that he missed them so much. They had been a part of his life for so long, he felt as if he were missing a limb.

Dean was giving him an amused smile, one corner of his lip twitching, his eyes alive in a way that the threat of danger always seemed to invoke in him.

“Forget your helmet?” Dean teased, his fingers teasing the back of Cas’s hairline.

Cas smiled, it was part predator, part lover, and all kinds of inappropriate. The adrenaline was surging through his veins - making him more daring than normal. Or maybe it had something to do with Dean’s confession of love - he’d been riding an emotional high since his lover had spoken those words. He felt more confident, and he knew Dean wasn’t going anywhere.

He knew how hard it had been for him to tell him - and it meant everything that he’d said it of his own accord. Said it because he wanted him in his life - damaged or not.

After yesterday - after they’d survived their first real fight as a couple, he was as certain as he could be that Dean wasn’t going anywhere.

And it was a wonderful feeling.

He squeezed Dean’s thigh, his fingertips almost brushing Dean’s sex. “You should be more respectful, Dean. I am armed.”

Dean’s pupil’s shrunk to thin slits, and his tongue flicked over his bottom lip. “I can see that.”

Cas leaned in, his lips brushing Dean’s earlobe. He decided to give the other man as much incentive as possible to stay alive today. “When we get back to Bobby’s, I want to make love to you. I want to be inside of you,” he whispered, stunned at his boldness. He was beginning to discover a side to himself that he never knew existed; a side that only Dean could bring out.

He liked it.

Dean had frozen, his head turned, and his eyes locked with Cas’s. He said nothing for several long moments.

Cas felt his stomach churn, perhaps he’d gone to far. Dean had never offered that of himself.

Dean blinked, shook his head, then touched his cheek. “Aren’t you just full of surprises lately, babe.”

“Good surprises?” Cas hedged.

Dean grinned, his expression almost primal. “Extremely good.”

Cas felt warm all over as he leaned his head back, and prepared himself mentally for what was to come.

The ship rocked as they approached the surface.

“So far so good.” Gabe called from the cockpit. “Almost there.”

Adam glanced back, his eyes immediately shooting towards Anna who was sitting in between Sam and Bobby. They were in the row of seats across from them.

Cas almost sighed - this was going to take some getting used to.

Anna shifted in her seat; a sign that she was anxious. He’d noticed the tell several months back.

Cas gave Anna a reassuring smile, her eyes were amused, and nervous all at once. “You’ll do fine. I have faith in you. And you will not be alone.”

“Thank you, Master.” He noticed her gaze kept shifting to the co-pilot’s seat where Adam was seated.

It appeared Anna may not have been as averse to his attentions as she had first appeared. That was something Cas could relate to, he’d done similar things with Dean.

He supposed this was normal - but it was difficult to quell his protective parental instincts. He would have to monitor the situation. Anna was a smart girl; he trusted her judgment.

The ship bucked again, as they landed, then all fell quiet.

“Honey, we’re home.” Gabe spun in his chair. “Another perfect, unseen entry.” He paused as if waiting for applause, then bowed slightly. “You’re welcome.”

Sam chuckled, as he unbuckled his harness, and stood. “Yeah, we get it, you’re amazing. Talk to me when we’re off this rock.”

“I’m going to expect a feast in my honor if we survive.” Gabe spun back around, and began flicking dials.

“Yeah, I’ll get right on that,” Sam replied as he grabbed his gear.

Cas undid his harness, and exhaled slowly as he stood. He felt calm - meditation with Anna had helped - he hadn’t realized how much he’d needed it.

He was on solid ground - this was familiar.

Get in, get the intel, get out.

He could do this - his eyes flowed over Dean, then Anna. His own strange family - he was at peace, one with the force.

Memories of Alastair seemed dim, and distant - he knew that past would never vanish, and there might be days when something brought a memory to the forefront of his mind again, but he knew it didn’t control him. He wasn’t alone - and Alastair couldn’t hurt him or anyone else again.

Cas smiled, and nodded at Dean.

They could do this.

The journey to the facility had been easy - it was getting inside of it that was going to be the problem. Besides the heat, and dense forest eating them alive, they hadn’t encountered any resistance.

The planet had two suns, so it was never chilly on Bendii.

Gabe and Adam had stayed back on the ship, ready to take off at a moments notice if things got heated.

Anna was doing marvelous, no complaints as they’d trudged forward.

They’d had to land a few miles from the building to keep from being detected.

Her red hair had branches and leaves caught in it, as she beamed at Cas.

Cas smiled back, even as a part of him worried for her safety.

He knew she was better off here than at the temple - the site of destruction in his visions. It didn’t mean he didn’t worry about her every time they went into danger together.

Bobby, Sam, Anna, Dean, and Castiel were all lying flat on their stomach’s in the tall grass, watching the guards patrol.

Searching for patterns, a weak point.

The problem was, there wasn’t one.

There were camera’s mounted atop towers on all sides of the building, a tall fence enclosed the area, and it was sparking in a dangerous manner.

There were no shortage of guards, and they were armed to the teeth with both legal, and illegal weaponry.

This wasn’t going to work - they had to find a way to get inside without being spotted.

His eyes darted around - all the patrolling figures were wearing the same outfit. Form fitting, black, military style shirt and pants.

If they could get their hands on some of those - they might just be able to walk in.

“I think we need a change of clothes,” Dean murmured.

Cas blinked. “You read my mind.”

“I miss something?” Anna’s forehead wrinkled.

Bobby snorted. “I think those two idgits are planning on doing some shopping.”

Anna was laying on her back, she swore she could feel a bug biting her as she forced herself to lie still. Her eyes were closed, and she monitored her breathing. The dirt Master Castiel had smeared on her cheek was itching - it sucked being the youngest.

You got all of the crap assignments.

She hadn’t argued though - the trust Master Castiel was showing in her by even allowing her to be a part of this was humbling. She wasn’t a Jedi Knight and because of her choices she never would be. The Council would throw the book at her if she returned.

She had chosen to follow her Master, and in her eyes, he would always be a Jedi.

But he was more than that, he was the only family she had, and she wouldn’t trade him for anything.

He had been an amazing teacher, but more than that, he’d been there for her, cared about her. As a youngling, she hadn’t been that impressive of a student - slow to learn, she had always felt like an outsider in the temple.

Until she’d been assigned to Castiel.

He’d had a way of teaching that made her see the force in a way she’d never been able to before. And he’d made her feel as if she were good enough the way she was - as if she had potential.

Her life had changed under his tutelage.

She’d heard rumors about him, seen the odd looks some of the other Master’s had given him - he had told her some of his past, enough that she understood that she wasn’t the only one to feel like an outsider.

It had bonded them even more.

It was one of the reasons she’d adored Knight Winchester. He’d accepted her Master, and her without hesitation. Like Master Harvelle, he had been different.

And now somehow, they had become an odd, but wonderful type of family.

She would do anything for them - which was why she had agreed to play the ‘damsel in distress.’

She knew they had her back.

Her thoughts began to drift again, as she waited, her body still.

Adam.

She didn’t know what to think about him. He kept sneaking glances at her, and she’d never had anyone express an interest in her - it had unnerved her. She hadn’t known how to react, but thankfully she’d been saved from having to directly respond by their ‘trickster’s’ wit.

Now she kept replaying it in her mind; she had nothing to do by lie here and think, and the more she thought about it, the more she realized, he was kind of cute.

She sighed inwardly; perhaps she’d try talking to him - there was no harm in that.

Her thoughts snapped back to the present, as the sound of an engine roaring, and the ground beneath her vibrated.

Show time.

The sound quieted from somewhere in front of her, and she heard someone whistle. “What have we here?” The man’s voice dripped with desire.

She didn’t allow herself to cringe. She knew she was safe.

Another set of footsteps started towards her.

“Where do you think she came from?”

“Let’s wake her up and ask.”

Anna’s eyes flew open, and she grinned up at tall, dark, and ugly.

“What the-,” he grunted in pain as her Master knocked him out in one swift blow to the back of the head.

Dean had taken the other out in similar fashion.

Anna leaned up on her elbows, and peered towards the truck. A third guard had been sitting in the driver’s seat. Sam had taken care of him.

“You make an excellent diversion, kid.” Dean winked at her.

She laughed and wiped the dirt from her arms. “Thanks, but next time, it’s your turn.”

Dean snorted.

Castiel touched her shoulder, his eyes proud.

She basked in his silent praise.

Cas knew Anna didn’t like being left behind, but she also understood that he was trusting her to watch his back. If things went bad inside, he, Dean, and Sam would need her and Bobby to cover them as they made a quick, and probably bloody exit.

“Be careful, Master.”

Her words a few minutes earlier before they’d slipped inside in their newly acquired outfits. A few words, so much meaning behind them. Her eyes, her tone, he had hated to leave her, but she wasn’t a child, and he knew she could do this without him hovering over her.

Bobby’s parting words had been an affectionate. “Don’t go and get your head’s blown off before you bring me that damn intel.”

Cas smiled at the memory, and Dean’s laughter it had elicited.

Cas resisted the urge to pull at his shirt as they walked down the hall. It was a bit too tight across the shoulders, but it would serve its purpose. The black hats they all wore, that shielded their eyes from the bright sunlight were helpful in hiding their faces from the camera’s as they moved at a steady pace, not drawing attention.

Cas glanced around, the decorating was sterile, and the halls dark, only dimly lit. Rooms branched off in all directions, they didn’t have the time to wander.

He nudged Dean, as a lone human guard approached.

Cas moved in front of him, his voice calm, as he drew on the force, his hand waving in front of the man’s eyes.

Within moments they had their directions to a currently unmanned office, where they could download the data they needed.

He convinced the man to forget he ever had this conversation, then they proceeded forward.

“That’s handy,” Sam murmured.

“Indeed.” Cas agreed.

They passed several rooms full of equipment, men were hovered over monitors, entering data, some were working on droids.

Sparks could be seen as they worked - building, and tweaking a very dangerous looking set of battle droids.

If they got caught this could prove to be a very hazardous place for their health.

Sam veered off, signaling for them to follow. An empty room - a closet of some kind.

“Good spot.”

Sam nodded, and removed an explosive from his pack, and began to place the bomb, hiding it under the supplies, he armed it to blow when they detonated it.

They’d agreed to plant the bombs before they downloaded the data, just in case something went wrong, at least they could take this place down with them.

They hadn’t passed as many people as he’d thought for a facility so large. There were more droids than living beings.

They moved quickly, placing explosives in three other locations, before finally heading to their intended target.

No one paid them any attention, most were too focused on building weapons, and droids. He’d seen hundreds so far and he knew that was just the tip of the iceberg. The Chancellor didn’t do anything on a small scale.

Sweat was dripping down his back, as they entered the room. It was a medium sized and lined with computers.

Sam pulled a slim, computer from his pack, and hooked it up; trying to hack into their system.

Cas took up position near the door, and kept watch. Dean hovered over Sam, his eyes impatient.

Sam shot him a glare, as he worked, his fingers flying over the pad.

Dean rolled his eyes, but took up position on the other side of the door.

“So far, so good,” Dean murmured.

Cas nodded, his eyes watching, his senses reaching out.

It seemed they might pull this off without an actual confrontation.

If they could get out without being spotting, they’d get to the ship - warn the workers, give them the chance to evacuate. If they murdered all of these people they were no better than the Chancellor. There was no way to know that all of the workers actually knew why they were building the droids. Then they’d blow the place - putting a huge dent in the Chancellors plans.

And if Sam was able to find something proving his involvement, they might actually be able to get the Council to listen.

All in all, it would be a good day.

“I think I’m in,” Sam whispered.

Cas’s heart jumped.

“Just a few more sec-”

A deafening blare started shrieking from all around them.

Cas and Dean both had their sabers out in seconds.

“Sithspit. I triggered an alarm when I tried to download the files.” Sam’s fingers were still flying across the panel.

“No shit,” Dean snarled.

“I thought I disabled it - son’s of bitches built some kind of fail safe in - you have got to be kidding,” Sam’s eyes were wide. “There’s a virus eating up all the information - how could I have missed this?”

Cas shook his head. “It doesn’t matter. We have to go, now.”

Sam was still typing, desperately trying to salvage something. “I just need a few more minutes.”

“Dean,” Cas warned.

Dean moved towards Sam, stopping inches from him. “Sam, leave it. We‘re about to be drowning in hostiles.”

The younger man didn’t respond, his fingers kept moving, his eyes never wavered from the console.

Dean grabbed Sam’s shoulder. “Think about Jessica,” Sam froze, “This isn’t worth throwing your life away. We’ll find another way to expose Roman.”

Cas’s gaze kept darting between the two men, and the still empty hallway. He knew that wasn’t going to last, he could hear the familiar sound of clanking metal. Droids were on their way.

Sam growled, then nodded, and shoved his computer into his pack and they moved towards Cas.

Cas watched in horror as two Droideka’s rolled into the hallway blocking their only way out of the room. They rose to their intimating standing position and a circular, aura of pale, flickering blue light surrounded them.

Cas hated those damned shields.

Dean cursed, and shoved Sam behind him.

Why could it never be easy?
