Amazing how she’s going from being a baby to a kid, She’s really good with numbers, beginning with reading and writing, cracking jokes, making up songs and stories... This morning she invented something called The Choo Cho Bar. It’s too hard to explain but basically it involves rearranging tables and ( Read more... )

Clearly _everyone_ wants to drink in The Choo Choo Bar.

I very much enjoyed Inglourious Basterds.

There's a really good film _in_ Inglourious Basterds, but it suffers from JK Rowling syndrome: the author is too famous for an editor to tell them that they need to cut, cut, cut. Most individual scenes were far too long. If you pulled out 45 mins-1 hour, you'd have something good.

Also, I'm pretty desensitised to violence, but I found the bit with machine guns in the climactic scene a little unsettling. I think that's what he was aiming for, but I still didn't like it.

I'm enjoying Dr Who a lot, but I'm not sure about elements of the last Episode, as I said

I remember being quite distressed during some behind-the-scenes about OldBoy. Park Chan-Wook is fine, but that guy he got to play Dae-Su comes across as a complete prat.

Also, I think far too many "cool movie people" like Lars Von Trier for me to think of him as anything other than a pretentious prick. Which is a shame, because Dogme is a good idea, and the video for Laid Back's Bakerman was inspired. Dogville wasn't that bad, I guess, but it would have been just as good if you couldn't see through the walls. It's a one-line joke strung out over two hours.

In B4 "That's what she said".

In other news, mnemonics give me a real problem, in that now I have to remember two things per piece of information instead of just one. But I gather that other people find it helpful.
