Just wrong

Are there no good books out there? Has the world truly and utterly gone mad? And since when is plagiarism accepted as original work?

Everyone line up for the major wankage of 2007!

It would most definitely appear the world has, indeed, gone stark raving mad. Stupid Cassandra Clare.

I can't believe such crap is deemed publishable. I mean wdf, what a waste of paper! And since it's going to be a trilogy (big surprise there) we can safely assume her crap will be accountable for 50% of the paper wastage for the next decade!

There are good books! You just have to search for 'em.

Ms. "Clare" is published because she had a huge Buffy and Hp and LotR fanbase. Even if her work sucks, people will buy it in spades for the LOL factor alone, in other words, to spork it. No press is bad press and even if she's ragged on, people will continue to buy out of curiosity. That makes the publishers money, which makes Clare money, which perpetuates more books.

Sad, marketing.

I know she has a huge LoTR/HP/Buffy fanbase, but so have a lot of other HP writers, who can actually write, instead of churn out crap. I mean, you yourself didn't go up to the publisher and said I am teh cool in the HP fandom, publish my book!.

But sadly yes, even bad publicity is good publicity, her book will become a bestseller and she will make tones of money. And have the last laugh. Though for my part, if I wanted a complete brain meltdown, I'd borrow the book, not waste money on it.
