Weekend highlights

On Friday at 6:00 I set out on a ramble with a flask of tea as my only companion. Here is the route I followed. It was four and a half hours to travel 13 miles, including 20 minutes of wait at a pizzeria on the home stretch. I enjoy walking through the Scottish countryside. It always makes me feel better.
I met several people along the way. ( Read more... )

Yeah, you could walk to the West out of DeLand, and it'd be pretty calm, but still hot as all get-out.

I remember riding my bike to New Smyrna Beach from DeLand about 18 months ago; navigating the narrow I-4 overpass was, by far, the scariest part. Especially on the way back, after the sun had risen and the roads were busier. I had set out with the goal of seeing the sunrise, and I would have succeeded if the horizon hadn't been cloudy when I got there.

Actually, the whole first mile or four on the coastal side of I-4 was pretty miserable: they couldn't decide if they were putting down new pavement or tearing the old up first, so there were many rough spots.

Thank goodness for the joy of walking! I have enjoyed same on occasion and vividly remember rambling on a bicycle for many happy hours. I hope things are well with you. Your mother and I are enjoying some peacable time with your sisters away. Can't wait until they get back, too.

Take care and we love you.

It's good stuff, that. When I'm walking on regular roads, I see about the same number of pedestrians and bicylists. (These being few.) I also sometimes see evidence of equestrians, but do not actually run into them that often.

Don't like my spelling of guhzebo, eh? Well, if you kept up with /., you'd know that 'lulz' has a 'u' in it! (If Fox News is to be trusted.)

As for Scottish countryside... You're welcome to come visit any time! :c)
