It's not Christmas till Bing and Bowie sing

Dec 25, 2016 01:24

And since it is Christmas here now, I give you the song that I've been listening to for what must be nearly 40 years:

More than ever, let's hope for peace on Earth in 2017. And by 'hope', I mean agitate, vote, hassle politicians, stand up against racists and bigots, and be the awesome we want to see in the world.

Lovely song. and I haven't given up hope. We're all fighting for the things important to us! (I already gave my $$ to three animal/environmental organizations, plus emailed politicians. I should really do more calling.)

You've been an insporation! I just keep chanting to myself that nearly 3 million Americans who voted preferred hope to hate, and some of those who chose hate are already regretting it. But if 2017 is the year when I finally snap and run around just shouting 'STOP BEING SO SODDING STUPID!!!' at people, no one will be shocked.

I'd love to do the same. Probably with lots of swearing, because I am really angry with the morons.

I don't think the voters were really celebrating hate in their minds, they were more frustrated with the establishment, and now that they realize Trump is owned by the establishment just like every other politician, some are doing a double take. I don't, for the life of me, understand how anyone with anything they cared about voted for him, but... I can't see into other people's minds or hearts. (Both of my sisters did... We have a 'no politics, no religion' rule.)

But yes, I'm fighting... I have to protect something. It's truly a lost world.

Has it been that long? I remember seeing it when it first came out. Oh, Bowie. Why did you leave us? Happy holidays.

I'm with Paul Bettany who posted earlier this year that Bowie was the glue that held the universe together and without him things are quickly unravelling..

And yes, I know! I feel terrifically old ...

I agree with Paul, as well. He's one of my fav actors, too, ever sine A Knight's Tale. He was brilliant. The world does see to be going down the drain rather quickly, doesn't it? I'd blame non-voters and Trump voters, but it seems the rest of the world is choosing to return to the dark ages as well. I don't understand it, and I definitely don't know what to do about it.

Peace on earth!

Here's a lovely and sad story I read today about a couple of Longfellows. War hurts but we hope and work for the end of it.
