The California Department of Transportation apparently wanted to test Richard's driving abilities. So they put up as many detours, cones, flashing lights, and slow moving assholes as humanly possible. We got through the Sierras most by cursing.

For us, it was the earliest snow on record. And buying chains. And buying cables. And paying people to put them on because I know nothing (really) about driving in the mountains in snow in my new (17 year old) car.

We, too, got through the Sierras mostly by cursing.
