Well...

Here we are in San Antonio. It's been surreal here, guys, reallly -- we're watching the news, seeing how everything is back in New Orleans, and just generally being flabbergasted. We've talked to some family and friends back at home and it seems that our town specifically came through fairly well -- the roads are impassible for fallen trees and ( Read more... )

Making the most of it! merry1970 August 31 2005, 02:43:22 UTC
So things aren't going as you may have planned on Erin's first visit to LA, but it sounds like you guys are making the most of it! I think you are getting to experience the things that are most important - each other and the love of family! Cats included!

Keep the updates coming, Blake. Know that there are a lot of people (including lots you haven't even met) that are very worried about you and yours. When you get back home, post a list of stuff you need, I'm sure we are all willing to send care packages.

Thanks, pal. That really does mean a lot to me. No telling what exactly we'll need yet, but if anybody could send, say, large boxes of gasoline, I'm sure that would come in handy. ;)

Kidding. Actually, I heard from home this morning, they're starting up the nuclear power plant today and they're going to work from there to restore power to the rest of my parish, so we should be in good shape soon. My parish wasn't hit NEARLY as hard as New Orleans, but it's close enough that, once we're online, they're going to use us as a staging ground to begin the work of getting the power back everywhere else. Keep your fingers crossed.

I believe it.

I know this probably sounds incredibly cliche, but...this will be a trip you and Erin will never forget, that's for sure!

Hope you're able to go home sooner than later.

Trying to find a place to eat tonight...

I'm fairly familiar with San Antonio. Depending on what you're after, but I would recommend the Sea Island Shrimp House. :-)
