Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you is no trouble to me and is safe for you.
Look out for the dogs, look out for the evildoers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh. For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh-though I myself ( Read more... )

Ahhh, much better. I haven't read this passage in a while, this was great.

I feel like I almost always want to tell Paul to calm down. I think this testifies to his sense of presence, purpose and urgency. :-)

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.

dude, paul didn't get it, or more appropriately, didn't have it figured out. an apostle. visibly saw Christ. author of more than half of our NT. and he admits, "i haven't made it." this is such an encouragement. and then he follows that by saying that is all the more reason to press on and follow God. i love it! because i know for sure that i am nowhere near "getting it," which is all the more reason to press on.

thanks for sharing this, brother!

The part that I really love is that Paul says that he is pressing on toward complete salvation because he belongs to Christ!! That is the ultimate encouragement I think from this passage...Because we belong to Christ, we can press forward. Because we belong to Him, we can make it our own, we can be sanctified by His power because we are Christ's!!

I tell you, this is an amazing passage...Thanks for your words Thom! It is so true and encouraging that not even Paul had fully attained it while here and that he even admits it to the people! Wow.
