Many years ago, I was able to attend the Writers of the Future writing workshop in Los Angeles, taught by K.D. Wentworth and Tim Powers. K.D. gave me a piece of short story writing advice: Mutilate the cows on the first page. It's so wonderful when story elements and motivations fall into place like that, isn't it?

I love it when it clicks!

Tomorrow is (mostly) for writing. My father flies out early, Dev is staying with a friend, and I don't have to teach until 4PM. I intend to make up for lost time.
