thank you for the baku description - it sounds gorgeous, and sort of like i remember some places and memories from my childhood. like a dreamscape logic, rather than a living space, even though living space is hidden inside the dreamscape as well.

i had a very brief affair with math before the entrance exams: i had a very strong tutor who managed to get the idea of it - on the appropriate level, of course - into me, the beauty of the closed systems you had to twist and turn until they fell into place. but uni math was terrible and i've descended into ignorance once again :D

my dreams mostly take place in Baku, rarely in Moscow or Leningrad. but I don't realize that during the dream, only after, remembering, i can recognize the real city, made strange and weird by memory. for example, one smelly, ratty courtyard full of garbage, rotten food, flies and rats in my dreams is much more civilized, sort of like those picturesque southern courtyards with vines, lazy cats and drying laundry. it is still scary - many chase scenes were played out there - but not disgusting. and yet i know it is that exact courtyard and not some generic one

так решить-то я решу, я ж говорю, примерно до второго курса университета я старшей помогала разобраться, посидев и почитав. но вот не нужно оно в обычной жизни, или у меня жизнь такая :) пропорции или уравнения с одним неизвестным - это максимум, что мне приходится решать. может, еще площадь прямоугольника :)

Была байка на анекдот.ру, как много лет назад израильские начальники малых строительных бригад дивились, как эти русские заранее знают длину лестничного пролета, "они,ьпредставляешь, берут длину от начала пролета и до конца, только по полу измеряют, умножают ее на саму себя. Потом измеряют высоту, тоже умножают на саму себя. Потом складывают это вместе, потом еще что-то считают, и у них получается точная длина пролета!!!

ну, моя жизнь попроще :) хотя байку я не понимаю. если они строят, то у них должен быть план, и никаких вычислений не надо. я, конечно, верю в израильские малые строительные бригады, но не думаю, что они строят двухэтажные дома без плана.
