Were up in Mariposa(Up next to Yosemite park) I got this thing cause it was free :p Horizontals are limited at practical uses. I decided to go with it, because of the price, and I realised that it has power everything, and I can always bolt on a small gear head mill to the 'z' dovetail, and have a Very usefull mill:) I have to remember to grab the tooling for this thing too :p
Ill have to measure to be certain, but I believe its a 14x40 Its an OLD Cincinattii. Its my belief that every house should come equipped with at least a lathe, and Mandatory knowledge of how to use it. I have to wonder why the Precision in woodworking???? Most ' precision' woodworking involves a router, and sandpaper:p Its not really a precision medium.
Im not so sure about that.. I have a friend that had a tiny'Prazi' lathe that he ran in his appartment with no issues. It was I think a 6"x4" and was big enough to machine the cooling fins off of 2 cycle weedeater engines to modify them for water cooling. He never had a noise comlaint either :) A sabere saw would get a complaint Im sure tho :p Egads I have totally forgotten about that cool publication. Well at least before it became sort of 'popular mechanics' type. They had lots of cool ideas, and information in the old ones, and now its just sorta eh... I havnt looked at a scientific american in over 10 years now tho.
