It was a fancy camera encased within a fancy protective case. I did not use waterproof makeup - oddly enough, it seems to make very little difference. You might think it would, but it seems that anything that you can put on stays there.
I can hold my breath comfortably for about 90 seconds, as long as I'm not really exerting myself, so that's not too much of a problem. Sometimes hair gets in the way, but there are very easy solutions for that, such as just moving the hair in the right direction with my hands, or braiding a loose braid that will come undone at just the right minute.
