It's very fitting to what we've seen of Elias so far that he's willing to let his man Marconi take care of the necessary job, even without witnessing it himself.
The conversation between John and Elias was fascinating, especially with Carl's inner narration.
As always, I had fun with the elaborate, twisty mind of Carl Elias. I think he is much more at ease with the similarities he detects between himself and Reese than Reese is. And of course this is the first time in my AU that any of the characters have used the term "love" to describe the relationship between Carter and Reese. I wanted Elias, angling for advantage as always, to have the privilege of saying it out loud to Reese. Thank you for reading and commenting.
Wow. I'm not sure where to begin! That was a very powerful encounter between Elias and John and also troubling in its implications that maybe John feels that Joss doesn't need him at all anymore and would be better off without him in her life. I don't know if that's what he meant or if it was even one of the intended readings of his words, but that's the impression with which I was left at the end of this story. That would certainly be a twist to the John/Joss relationship that could lead to many fascinating story lines, I'm sure, and plenty of angst, which is always in good form, haha

Thank you for your generous comments. I'm delighted that you enjoyed this story of such a strange alliance. I think that in fact Reese is not the same as Elias -- but I feel that both men believe it is true. Elias feels eternally bound to both Reese and Carter, for saving his life, but also perhaps for pointing him toward other possibilities in the world. I do think that Reese will grapple with his doubts about what worth or value he can bring to his relationship with Carter: is he more of a danger than a protective factor in her life? I appreciate your taking the time to read this and to leave such an engaged response.
