I was there. This does explain the huge, huge number of guys shoving people around booths like the Suicide Girls booth and why a lot of the "booth babes" were actually not in front of the booths but behind the tables. EA should be sued.
EA should be hit with a class action suit for sexual harassment. Telling the public, "PLEASE COMMIT ACTS OF LUST WITH OUR EMPLOYEES" is pretty much exactly what sexual harassment laws were created to prevent.
Saying "by act of lust, we really meant photos," I don't expect to hold up in court. (I mean, when you hear the phrase, "act of lust," what you think of is "a photo standing next to that person," right?)
I wouldn't go so far as to consider myself a gamer, but I do enjoy video games (Nintendo DS Lite). The ones I like tend to be puzzles, I'm not interested in racing or shooting/fighting games which tend to be the largest portion of the gaming industry. Games like MillionHeir (which intrigued me enough to buy the DS), by all accounts a successful game, don't appear to be getting additional titles or even, a MillionHeir 2.
The sexism inherent in the gaming world does get to me. Frankly, I've always tried to ignore it and I wasn't surprised to hear of this.
I don't know that I'm all that surprised by it...horrified enough that I won't buy their stuff? Absolutely.
There's a certain amount of sexism that I'll cope with if I enjoy the game enough, when it comes to gaming communities. And then there is a point past which it needs to be addressed.
Why is it that marketing people all seem to be weirdly stupid? Is there something they teach them in business school that makes them incapable of reacting to their ill-considered campaigns in the same way as ordinary people?

In the future, I'll likely keep an eye out for the EA logo and avoid it.
