There is an lj community called televisionfree. Being one of them smug not-tv-havers, I am clearly the target market for something like this. But what's the point

But, but...auto sloganeering is an ARTFORM. I read somewhere recently that someone missed cars without bumper stickers. I like to think I am giving the person in back of me some entertainment at red lights. The other day, I was driving down the road and a car full of mixed gender teenagers, beeped and hollered out the window at me, flashing me the "rock on" hand signal (for once, nice to not get the finger for driving THE SPEED LIMIT) as they passed. Favorite son and I pondered over what sticker they had so heartily approved of. DECK? My Grass is Blue? Higher Ground? Terra Pass? What?
TV? Where would we be without doink doink to pass the night? Weeds? How much useful information would I have missed if I didn't watch some CSI? And of course, I would barely know what styles fit me if it weren't for Stacy and Clinton! Oh, and what countries to avoid because they've fed something to Anthony Bourdain (swoon) that got him sick?
But see, your stickers are specific: they attach to something concrete. Does that make sense? Higher Ground and Terra Pass are actual things, not just empty words.
You ever see one of those cars where you read one of the bumper stickers and you're pretty sure you can name the rest without looking? That's what I'm talking about. And while I never had a wall-o-politix on my car, I've had my share.
And if that sheep's bladder didn't make Anthony Bourdain (swoon, curse, cough, do a shot) sick, NUTHIN WILL. And that's pretty much my point: I'm not anti-tv, I've just made the choice not to have it. I'll change my mind at some point. I don't really have anything to talk to other non-tv-havers about. I'd rather join a pro-NPR community than an anti-tv one.
So you are saying you are pro-haggis and anti-lima bean? While I can't get behind your pro-haggis position I shall maintain cultural sensitivity and not comment.
I'm guilty of saying I like "everything but x and y" sometimes, when it comes to music and movies.
I've never really thought about it before. This is enlightening. When I stop to think about it, it would be better to think in positive terms rather than negative. You say it well with this: I prefer to go through life saying "I AM" instead of "I AM NOT".
For the life of me I DON'T FUCKING GET the childfree thing. Even when I was married I didn't have people breathing down my neck about children. Then again, I'm not a square, so I'm not surrounded by your typical people. But still. Do not get.
Ever notice how many of the "childfree" have some pretty freakin' childlike hobbies and interests? What? There were children at the Pixar movie? Oh em gee!
I don't dislike children although it's been years since I've had regular interaction with them: I'm not near my family and my mom-friends are busy momming, which I totally understand. I do get freaked out around bunches of kids, though. I won't be seeing any Pixar movies any time soon.

Rosa was so patient to let me put both pairs of glasses on her, especially since she was a puppy then. I like this one with the sunglasses, too.
