I'd say relaxing Friday sounds like a good idea. You need to give yourself time to wind down, or your body just decides someday that you're going to. And you crash.
I'm afraid I can't offer any brilliant coping techniques for the winding down part. But if you are having trouble sleeping in the short term, maybe try herbal supplements or teas? It's not a good idea for the long term, but in the short term sometimes it helps. I've been told by a herbalist that valerian is safe, almost impossible to overdose on (maybe if you drank bottles of it) and non-addictive.
Valerian also smells a lot like stinky feet and the cats love it!
But I haven't tried using it as a sleep aid yet.
But yah, I really, really need to have some down-time, which I'll get this weekend on Friday night and Saturday morning. I've got a busy day on Sunday.
This may or may not work - but what about just sitting for 10 minutes or so and just breathe? It's meditation really - let the thoughts come, but don't dwell on them, just let them go by. i know, way easier said than done, but after a couple of times of doing it, it gets way easier.
If you get too distracted by thoughts, refocus on your breathing - 4 counts in, 4 counts out - that sort of thing. It might help!
