[Audio. He speaks fairly quickly.] Diane - 11.18 am. I seem to have lost my microcasette recorder. I've obtained a strange, futuristic-looking device with an audio function instead. Though I realize the chances of this reaching you are quite slim, there's still a comfort in adressing this to you. [A brief pause.] I appear to be in a different ( Read more... )

[Short pause] ... That would be a correct assumption, yes. You sound like you're familiar with this phenomenom? Could you enlighten me about it?

Oh, sure. I've been here for months. Folks get pulled in from different worlds, see, and we haven't figured out just why yet -- the locals are friendly enough, but not real informative, and all they know is that we're s'posed to catch and tame the animals here.

Different worlds, you say? That is highly intriguing. I suppose we'll never fully understand the delicate fabrics of the universe. ... But thank you, I appreciate the help.

Excuse me, Sir, you seem to be broadcasting this. Um, I do not know anyone name Diane, but I can help you if you like! I arrived four months ago myself, so I know this can be confusing.

My name is Firion and welcome to Johto.

I see ... that wasn't my intention. But it seems good came out of that. I'd really appreciate any help you can offer, thank you.

It's nice meeting you, Firion! My name is Dale Cooper. [Slowly 'tasting' the word] Johto... so that's what this place is called. It's really something.

[He chuckles quietly]

It usually is not, but many have made that mistake, including myself. What you have is called a PokeGear. It can communicate with others over long distances using writing, the audio feature that we are using now, and a video feature that would allow us to talk and see each other at the same time.

Johto is a different world from your own, as you have already guessed. The owl is called a HootHoot, I believe, and it is called a Pokemon. We all received one upon our arrival. We are suppose to travel this land, catching more of the Pokemon, training them, and competing with them.

Though it isn't a requirement! Many of us have taken to simply traveling and exploring. [He finally pauses, laughing sheepishly] I seem to have gotten carried away, I'm sorry. I hope I answered some of your questions though!

There's no need to apologize - you've been very helpful, thank you! I suppose only one question remains: do you know why this has happened? I can't say I'm not regarding this situation with some excitement, but I'm going to take a guess and assume that we're trapped here for the time being, and that conclusion is something that I find somewhat troubling.

I'm afraid my name is not Diane, but I may be of assistance. I am Naoto Shirogane, detective and I have been here some months.

This is Johto, and the owl that is following you, if my guess is correct, is a Hoothoot. It is meant to be your new partner here.

[Oh look, a video function as well? The technology here seemed to be very advanced.]

Thank you, I appreciate it. Glad to make your acquaintance - I'm Special Agent Dale Cooper, with the FBI. I'm going to go ahead and assume that we're not from the same organisation.

[He glances at the aforementioned pokémon and then videos it for a moment, revealing that yes, it is a Hoothoot.] My partner ... are we meant to accomplish a goal, given that we've been allocated these creatures?

[She (though that might be a little hard to tell) smiles]

Ah, no. I'm freelance, though I often assist the authorities. I work exclusively in Japan, however, and as such have not gotten a chance to work with the FBI.

Are you... familiar with Pokémon, Agent Cooper? It would seem our goal is the same as in the game--to battle with our partners and earn badges.

Yes, I assumed you were of Asian origin from your name. I hope I get an oppurtunity to travel there at some point in time, especially to visit Tibet.

[He smiles, also, then frowns as he ponders this for a second.] No, I can't say that I am. If there's a game with that name, it's unknown to me. What does the game entail? Who do you battle?

Certainly! [He smiles and turns the video towards the owl, who looks lazily up at the viewfinder.]
