Wow, I didn't realize so much work needed to be done on it! What size engine does it have on it, btw?

I'm glad it looks like things are working out with Creation after all. Be sure to take pictures of Zillah on display! :)

It's the big mac - the V8, 5.7L 350. The engine is powerful, my '02 Silverado has the 5.3L, but the previous owner put a 350 (3-speed) automatic on it that doesn't/isn't downshifting. It's a good trans, but when you combo the 4WD and the way it's setup overall, it can be a little sluggish on long inclines.

The engine was cleaned in the last however long, so it doesn't even knock when it's cold, but it's been long enough to need gaskets... prolly spark plugs, too.

I'm shopping 650cfm Holley and Edelbrock carbs instead of working. I am bad ninja.

I had a 350 V8 on a Camaro I had back in the 80s (yes, I know, redneck car). Man, that car had some giddy-up. I'd love to still have it, though I probably couldn't afford to put gas in the thing at this point. *g* What kind of mileage does the truck get?

*whistles* Man, that would have been cool. What - redneck cars are the best kind!
The mileage varies, but it's getting much better now than it did on the way down. It averaged 9 on the way back and 14 driving around here - where there's no mountains. LOL I keep telling Aaron that we need to just fix the carb and that will help even more (I mean, the starter flap and the part of the vacuum choke are missing... MISSING), but he's convinced it won't matter - he's blaming other things. Guess we'll see who ends up getting the six pack. :)

Wow, I had never thought that the Zilla would need so much work on!

I hope you get everything sorted out until the con and manage to find the right place to share John's truck with everyone :) *crosses fingers*

Yeah, he needs a LOT of stuff. It will take a while to get to everything, but we're doing as much as we can, when we can. :)

*crosses fingers, too*

YAY for not needing a new alternator, I have to put one on my Dad's van and I'm so not looking forward to it

Eww Holley? really? Sorry, I just yanked one of my Monte and got a new Edelbrock. Damn thing was a piece of SHIT, it was way old though lol

Wish I could be there to help, I know all that shit's gonna be A LOT of work, but maybe I'm wierd, I think it'd be fun, specially when its on a car/truck that's actually WORTH it

It's not bad on the old guys - lots of room to heft it in place and only two bolts. While you have it off, you gonna replace the belt? Ours was only eight bucks.

I want a new Holley, not the remans, but it's honestly a pipe dream. I will have to settle for something at least decent, if not perfect - ANYTHING is better than the Quad POS on there right now. It's finding someone to teach me how to tune it that will be the hard part... never done that before.

YEAH, he's totally worth it. :D

naw, we replaced both the belt and the tensioner not to long ago, we thought the tensioner was what was causing the noise we were hearing, but of course not, its the actual alternator...and theres not that much room on the van lol, theres NO nose on the thing

I had a 800cfm QJet on my car WAY back in the day, honestly I didnt mind it but we swapped it out for the 550cfm Holly when gas prices spiked a few years back...damn thing started flooding and fucking up so bad Dad wouldnt let me drive it at all...my bro was awesome and got me a shiny new 600cfm Performer Edelbrock, friggin LOVE that thing *le sigh* now I wanna go for a ride :( lol

Ha :)

My noob-ism might show here, but to go from an 800 to a 550 seems like quite a leap backwards. Depending on the engine it was paired with, it may just have not been big enough to handle the demand??

What car do you/did you have?
