Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man forty years ago on December 1, 1955...
I hadn't realized this was the anniversary of that event until I saw a poster about it on a bus here in Salt Lake City this morning...

And at 11am this morning in Boston they had a National Day of Absence in her honor. A march and even a decorated bus. From what I've read in the paper anyway.

It's a great idea--the organizer was quoted linking Rosa's efforts with the issues of racism and poverty we wrestle with today.

I'll have to find the article.

Refused to give up a seat ACROSS THE AISLE from a white man, even. It wasn't like there wasn't a seat for the guy.
