Two of the Rolling Stones lit up a fag on stage last night. In a magnanimous gesture to the rich and famous, Greenwich Council has decided not to fine the Stones for flouting the smoking ban. Now, maybe it's just because I am in the mother of all moods, but I think that stinks. Would they have fined members of the audience for smoking in a public ( Read more... )

There was a rumour that EastEnders or rather the producers of the show were going to keep paying the fines whenever June Brown (Dot) lit up a fag. The reason being that they didn't think it factual that a woman of her age would give up smoking all of a sudden ( ... )

In Scotland, on stage in any capacity, including theatrical venues, you're not allowed to smoke (dummy ones included), even if it's central to a character's behaviour/plot.Yeah, when Mel Smith was playing Winston Churchill last year he was told, in no uncertain terms, what would haven if he lit up on stage! (Aside from a fine the council threatened to pull the license for the venue ( ... )
