Music feeds the keyboard monkey

Dec 17, 2007 12:20

The office radio is playing Arcade Fire's "Intervention", one of my favorite songs of the year. Hearing favorite music in mediocre places is one of life's modest pleasures, like socks fresh out of the dryer... or sneaking in a journal post on company time. It's a mild hit of euphoria, the perfect dose for blank-faced work mode.

work, music

This post made me go find socks and tumble them on "high" for ten minutes.

True story.

Sneak these more often.

If I hear music in unexpected places, I approach whoever's working and inform them of the song and what album it's from so maybe they'll go buy it.

Really? At Cost Plus? How fantastic! What a banner day in the life of Anna!

Try being a keyboard monkey in an office that is deathly silent. It drives me insane, nothing but clackclackclack and the occasional cough. I live for the moments when I can sneak off to the stacks and listen to stuff like Neon Bible on my iPod. 'Cause I thought I would be sick of it by now, but nope. 'Intervention' is still four minutes of aural pleasure.

Drop me a bone and say 'hi' sometime, would you? I want to send you something, but I'm not sure if you're living at the same address.

Hi! It's Abby, and I'm too lazy to log in.

I'm really (pleasantly) surprised to hear from you. How have you been? Is life going well? I'm still at the same home address, as well as same email address, if you'd rather give me a life update in a more private setting.

Also, apologies if my communication skills are rusty; it's been a while since I've written to anyone. Friskey died just over a month ago, and as you can imagine, coping with the loss has been difficult.

Aw, I'm pleasantly surprised to hear from you, too. It seemed like a shot in the dark 'cause you hadn't updated your LJ for ages. I emailed you about two weeks ago, but in any case, there's another email waiting for you. Reply if, and when, you want to. :-)
