New rapper Chapter, has released a video titled "It's Free (Swipe Yo EBT)," that is starting to get lots of attention for it's negative portrayal of black women who get government assistance for food.
But that's not the truth. I don't know why the idea persists that popping out millions of babies means more welfare. It doesn't, Clinton took care of that. And I don't know how you can lovingly tell people that they're welfare queens.
Hm, well, considering her level of musical talent, she might want to think twice about opposing welfare.
My mother had 8 children, and she didn't have food stamps until recently, not that they're all grown, so yeah, babies don't equal free ride. Well, not to mention, that working used to be enough to support a big family (even if it was just scraping by).
"You had me to get it all" sounds like she got an issue with mommy and daddy.
IDK, it seems like it might be satire, because it does seems like she's skewering all the welfare queen myths. Some of the lyrics say she's getting "paid", but then contrasts it with she's not getting anymore. Or course, if she's against welfare, she can go fuck off with her nasty stereotypical behavior of black women.
to quote myself from Facebook: for the record? it's been almost a whole fucking GENERATION since people who receive public assistance didn't have to work. and Reagan's "welfare queen" is and always has been lying, racist, classist bullshit.
And on top of all that, "welfare" as we know it started with assistance to poor whites to the exclusion of black in the 1930s; whites still make up the majority, in percentage and raw numbers, of welfare recipients, and no one has gotten near the $400 Trillion dollars of welfare of wealthy white business men (who, to make this all so very ironic, "earned" this by fucking up the entire economy).

Question: if it were a [black] man saying it, would he catch as much flack as her?
It's not like Michael Jackson et al haven't said the same thing in song before...just not as harshly.
