Okay i pointed this out on twitter, but I need to make the point again.

So was anyone else a little bit annoyed about how they handled the whole Historic Best Director award? First Frumpy!Babs' speech rubbed me the wrong way, and then they played off Katheryn Bigelow to I Am Woman, which I thought was total overkill and kinda cheapened the moment. I mean, what would they have played if Lee Daniels had won? "Say It Loud?"

Yeah I don't know, White ppl. Some days you try too hard. Just saying.

yeah, she did. Her first film I think was Near Dark, about vampires.

Oh I hadn't known that about the previous screenwriter nominees, I really liked Sounder. I hope Fletcher does more, and I assume he's tenured at Columbia and NYU if he's an adjunct? I sure hope so. lol Such a touching acceptance speech too, he'd been clearly caught off guard.

Also--Bigelow is 58? hot damn, she's been preserved very well. XD And it must be awesome to win against your ex-husband. LOL I'm so glad Avatar didn't take home director or film. I've totally got to see Hurt Locker now, I liked Near Dark and Strange Days, though there was some wtf-ery in that.

OT, but what a bad spelling error:

"Sandra Bullock also scored her own unique footnote as the first actor two win an Oscar, and a Razzie, in the same year."

You no this net-exacerbated homophone problem is really getting out of hand win they let and error like that threw.

I'm just mad that there was so much soap opera drama about Bigelow vs. Cameron that it wasn't even mentioned that Fletcher's nomination and therefore possible win would be just as historic -- if not more, frankly! When no one said anything and I never saw him and, well, with a name like "Geoffrey Fletcher," I didn't know he WAS black. Like with "The Color Purple," I had just assumed it was some European who adapted "Push" into "Precious." This is phenomenal and I will be celebrating :)!
