I said, 'Boy, I could sure use that money,' so I wrote 'Livin' Fat,' and it won," Mason told the New Orleans Times-Picayune in 1995.

Mason's winning play -- about a poor black family facing the moral dilemma of whether to keep a large sum of money that had unexpectedly come into its possession -- was produced in New York while she was still in school.

THAT WAS AN EPISODE OF WHAT'S HAPPENIN!!! Raj wrote an episode for a tv show and sent it to the studio. The guys were watching tv where the characters on that show found a bag of money. Raj went to the studio crying foul/stealing and the studio head told him that they get similar scripts all the time.

Just had to add that was an episode of Good Times too. I think James found some money and "allegedly" gave it back to the bank/store. We later find out that James kept some of the money and Florida gives him grief while JJ is all DYNO-MIIIIITE

Really sad that I hadn't even heard of her. We really need to do a better job of hyping brothas & sistas that are successful in ways other than being athletes & entertainers. I have students who have heard of Dr. Benjamin Carson & STILL don't believe Black folks can do anything other than rap or play sports, even in light of Barack Obama.
