They seem like lineal descendants of Netpositive's (the BeOS's web browser) error messages, which were all in haiku.
This, of course, is why the operating system that's trying to recreate the BeOS is called Haiku.

Yeah, looking at the haiku one, I had a vague feeling that I might have seen this a long, long time ago. And then I had a vague feeling that I might've posted about it then too.
Man, too bad I don't actually care enough to plunge into my 2001-2003 archives.
