suitsmeme:Harvey is an good looking man, this much is obvious. And it would just be silly for Mike to not be attracted to him a little bit. But hey, he can deal with that. All until Harvey outs himself as a giant geek, that is. Then Mike downright falls in love.
Harvey Specter is an attractive man; there’s no point in Mike denying it. Harvey’s gorgeous, and he damn well knows it. He’s also charismatic enough to charm any wealthy CEO into paying his astronomical retainer fee, and skilled enough to earn it. He’s intelligent, which Mike admires, and loyal, as much as he’d like to pretend he only looks out for number one. So really, there’s nothing weird about Mike having a little crush on him. Nothing wrong with a little crush. It’s not like he’s in love with the man.
Mike’s not so shallow as to actually fall in love with someone for their money, looks, or even their wit (all of which Harvey has in abundance). No, it takes more than that for Mike to fall for someone, to really, really fall. Mike likes people who actually care about others, for one thing. He likes people who like animals, children, and old people. He likes people who read fiction, not just legal briefs, and not just those romance and mystery novels that are so popular with women his grandma’s age. He likes people who listen to quirky, non-mainstream music and can quote great works of cinema. He likes people with their own fashion sense, who wear what looks good to them as well as on them, and are totally confidant in it. People who wear their unique peculiarities on their sleeve, so to speak. Most of all, he likes geeky people, people who can appreciate reruns of classic Star Trek episodes, and understand why Action Comics #1 was sold for $1.5 million.
And let’s face it, that's just not Harvey. He’s a special snowflake, alright, but not in the way that makes Mike weak at the knees.
So he’s really not in love with Harvey. This is just a crush.
“Mike.” His head jerks up at the sound of Harvey’s voice, and he sees his boss standing before him, arms folded on the top of the cubicle wall. “You got those briefs done?”
“Yeah, yeah.” Mike picks up the folder he’s put them in, and holds it out to Harvey. Something shiny on Harvey’s sleeve catches his eye, and his breath sticks in his throat.
Because Harvey’s wearing Starfleet Communicator Badge cufflinks.
Mike stares at the tiny spot of silver and black on the edge of Harvey’s sleeve. He can feel his heart fluttering in his chest and his cheeks starting to heat up.
Harvey flips through the folder and nods to himself, not noticing that there’s anything wrong with Mike. “Alright. Come on, you’re going with me to see the client.” Harvey walks off, and it takes a minute before Mike scrambles to his feet and follows him.
That thing he said about not being in love with Harvey? It’s not true. He’s totally head over heels.
