Number 8 for England is Frank Lampard. Not John. It's really not that hard to keep straight. Perhaps you should just shut up if it will be too difficult for you

These Dave O'Brien and Marcelo Balboa are commentators yes? Oh dear. Even I know Frank Lampard's name.
I'm glad you're getting into football and that you're picking it up so easily. You are seriously the only American I know who A: Likes it. B: Understands it and C: Can name players.
Yes, they're the commentators. And they don't know a whole lot more about football than I do, and I just started watching it. I don't claim to be an expert by any definition but I do know that they're unfit commentators.
No one in America seems to care about football (or soccer, whatever). I can't find anyone else to talk with about it or anyone who's even aware that it's going on.
The commentators here know what they are talking about but they tend to go off on a tangent about a player and totally forget that they are supposed to be talking us through what is happening on the pitch. They start talking about how a player has played in previous games, how many goals they have scored, about the club team they play for and then are like 'oh! the game! whats going on here then?' Gah
( ... )
Our commentators can't keep players straight and tend to contradict themselves repeatedly.
I can't even begin to guess why we dislike soccer here. The sport was barely on my radar before i realized the World Cup was about to happen and now I kind of want to continue keeping up with it but I don't even have the foggiest idea how I'll do so because coverage is almost nonexistent. I can't imagine what it's like to be surrounded by so many fans like that.
