This is what Democracy looks like!

On Tuesday, I learned about the Bill that Gov. Walker is proposing:
Public Unions would be stripped of their right to collectively bargain including the ability to negotiate health care and, for teachers, class size and how many hours. It could result in the lowering of teacher incomes by up to $8,000, by taking cost of benefits out of paychecks. ( Read more... )

It is truly heartening to see you and, in fact, so many other people, out there unions. I've been a member of a teacher's union and I know how important it is. GOOD FOR YOU!!!

It's funny, too, you get these rabid right-wingers who HATE unions just because they think they're meant to, and that drives me crazy. I will fully admit that there are something about unions (collective bargaining, job protection, etc.) that are fantastic and other aspects (seniority taking precedence over ability and work ethic) that are not. That said, there is a vast difference between reform and annihilation. NOBODY has the right to take away someone else's rights, especially when it comes to something like this.

Exactly! My mom is a member of the teacher's union, too. And I can't stand it when people blindly agree just because of the party. This bill in WI is worse even then that because of all the secret additions. It actually makes all sorts of discrimination laws go away and takes funding away from Planned Parenthood. So infuriating.
