RULES OF THE GAME

Jan 30, 2010 15:51

We must have these. It’s one of those sad things of life. But they’re useful, I promise!

Rules will be updated and changed if necessary.

1. RESPECT YOUR FELLOW PLAYERS. This is the one rule we will never change. Everybody is here to have fun and learn. Critiquing characterization is highly welcome, of course, but never ever insult the person.

2. Update mods at least once a week. What this means could be the following:
  • If there’s an event, you post at least one response to it. If there are conversations try to join in for them.
  • If you’re not directly involved, try to establish communication with other players by email and make sure you CC us.
  • Failing all that, try to update your character’s journal.

3. If RL is screwing with you, we understand. Trust us, we are people who have school and work as well, we know what it’s like. BUT, you must email us if you’re planning to drop out/go on hiatus. We will request that you arrange for a temporary caretaker in the latter case. If you have to drop out we will be very sad, but we’ll understand and will open that character back up for grabs.

4. At the beginning, each player can only apply for one character. If there are characters left over and we deem that you can handle it, you may apply for one more character. Make sure you can devote enough time to each character!

5. When playing, it is important that there’s NO godmodding/powerplaying. What this means is that you should not control what another character is doing. It’s fine to go:

Lavi didn’t quite know what to do. He was a wreck. The individual mission Komui had sent him on was a disaster and he wasn’t able to prevent the Finders from dying.

But you cannot say:

Lavi didn’t quite know what to do. He was a wreck. The individual mission Komui had sent him on was a disaster and he wasn’t able to prevent the Finders from dying.

As he walked down the corridor, lost in his thoughts, he chanced upon Lenalee who looked at him, worried.

What happens here is that you’re expecting the Lenalee player to be worried. But it is up to the player who plays Lenalee to decide whether she sees you and is worried, or whether she’s in another part of the building altogether and hence should not be able to see you.
