Fall Asleep and I Miss Something...

Don't know why this didn't catch my attention before, but I was probably doing something unimportant, like sleeping.

Anyway, I was cross-posting an entry on MediaMiner and noticed this:

Media Miner has a new fiction rating system )

Ugh. I wish they would have just adopted the rating system FF.N uses. It's becoming a pain to use multiple sites to host fic. Right now I'm back to just FF.N because, for all their issues, they've never hit me up with a donate, or get lost option.

*nod* IYFG is going to have to start using the new ratings, or else have a string of listing, complete with key, for every site.

I currently use FFN and MMO (and SingleSpark if I'm posting Sess/Kag stuff) and it's a pain just trying to cross-post at both places since I have to use different formatting to upload. Now I've gotta figure out what rating the piece gets on that particular site as well? Ugh.

I don't use MMO because it eats my code. Hopefully, very soonish, I'll figure out how and why.

I used A Single Spark back when I wrote Sess/Kagome. Used to get flamed. A lot.

I have found that I have to upload to MMO straight from MSWord. Even then, a special character will sometimes eat my code - like a fraction sign. Made it difficult when I was referring to Ranma 1/2.

I haven't been flamed from the users of ASS (har!) but I predict that will change before I'm through with Letters. There's a plot twist in a later chapter that's going to put me in the burn unit. Mmmm, can't wait.

Rate Shmate. They just are all dorks who cringe at the least faint whiff of lawsuit. I write garbage that is one full point down from the top, that's all.

So, the desperate and ever-grasping film board decided to enforce copyright. What of it? As long as no-one declares prohibition again or re-institutes the Hayes office I'm cool.

As a closet libertarian, this is a world all too covered in rules anyway. Learning to walk on the grassy verge on the side of the road is an important life skill. But then, remember, I left...

Film ratings are arbitrary, anyway. Basically, the film gets the rating the studio wants it to have, or they tweak it until everyone is happy. The final decision is almost always determined by which rating will sell the film the best (according to the demographics).

I wouldn't find this so humorous if Hollywood wasn't churning out constant remakes of the same old movies/sitcoms. There is nothing new to copyright, is there?

Oh, so you noticed? Ran out of stories did they?

And started buying Asian as well as European stories. It's not just horror.

I don't care if Scorsese is directing Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio, The Departed is just a remake of Infernal Affairs.
