this is really quite wonderful, I'm gonna be adding it to my memories. I'm not usually a fan of song-fic but I like the subtle way you've done that here, especially putting the lyric after the action. I'm enjoying the mal/river interaction, and since I ship them some myself I'm choosing to interpret it that way, if you don't mind too terribly much. Generally love your take on Mal, you've got two very different sides of him nailed perfectly.

I enjoyed this a lot; I really like the tone of it, quiet and peaceful.

Kaylee's enthusiasm for the holidays, and Mal's lack of cheer were very IC, and then Mal making sure that everyone is where they're supposed to be during the night was a nice touch (a regular mother-hen that man is...)
