See, I appreciated the way the Frobisher scenes were shot, and that did make sense to me on a human level, if on a dystopian sci-fi human level. Because that was my (admittedly horrific) solution, when the PM was doing his 'either do what I say, or tell the world and I'll do it anyway but your kids will know'. Option 3, if there was no way out, was not to let it happen the only way left to him. (The PM telling him what he was going to do was a pretty stupid plan)
On the other hand, my father (who otherwise enjoyed it very much, being a sci-fi fan but not fannish as we would define it) also picked out that scene as one which he thought over the top and unrealistic and unnecessary. Mum and I thought it was everything else that was horrific and unnecessary! So, you know, different strokes ;)
