Summary: Taemin has worked hard to maintain his grades, learn how to sing and dance, as well as participate in clubs and earn the attention of the officials of Shinhwa Boarding School. If you get in there, they ensure you make it anywhere. Super elite, Taemin can't help but aim for the stars. He's in, and that's the first step... But what about the other students? And what if they want more from Taemin than he's planned on giving? Can a star of the school make a book-bound underclassman pay attention to something besides studying? And when he does, what is their next move?

Watching the series of gentlemen file into the office room that the office assistant had told him to wait in, Lee Taemin slowly made it to his feet. If it wasn’t enough of a shock to be inside the SM Entertainment building, he was now meeting the officials of both the SM company and the exclusive school it sponsored. The six men filing into the room would be telling him -today- if he had a place in their School and their Management Program, or if he was just another student.
Fidgeting nervously in his slacks and button-down shirt, Taemin nervously twisted his fingers behind his back. He was wishing now that he had worn a jacket, but at least his mother had knotted his best tie and made him look half-way presentable. Only half-way, because each of the gentlemen wore flawless business attire, and more than a few wore badges with the Shinhwa Boarding School logo on it.
So, this was it. His final review after all the applications and meetings and -he was sure- long-distance observation. Taemin smiled nervously and bowed deeply as each school official was introduced -too far into his panicking to even blink about the fact that he wouldn’t remember a single one of them in ten minutes- as he tried to regulate his breathing. He noted in relief that the men were considering him and nodding in silent approval. In fact, two of them whispering in the background as they considered his file again, most likely reviewing his grades.
They had to be good enough, they just had to! ‘Please let them be good enough.’
Taemin had good grades, as close to perfect as he could make them. His attendance was perfect, his membership to honor groups and clubs noted in detail. The combination of all these things was what brought them here, prompting officials of Shinhwa Private School to request a meeting with one Lee Taemin.
They wanted him to attend their school.
He wanted to faint. If they kept him standing, he might just do that, in fact. Wouldn’t that be impressive? ‘Join our school, when you’ve recovered from the concussion you just gave yourself by fainting like a girl…’
“Lee Taemin.” One of the gentlemen murmured, smiling benignly when Taemin bowed repeatedly before he accepted the seat they offered him. “We’ve already had a discussion with your parents and some of your instructors, before approaching you about this matter.”
“Yes sir.” Taemin murmured dutifully, feeling like his cinnamon eyes were wide enough to pop out of his head, his hands clenching on the arms of his chair.
“We’re quite pleased with all of our findings concerning you.” The man -Lee Soo Man?- continued, and Taemin remembered he was the CEO of the company that sponsored and built Shinhwa Academy.
Occasionally ‘Trainee’ students as young as thirteen were admitted to courses and evaluations at Shinhwa, but true ‘attendance’ couldn’t start until one was sixteen. The building was an anomaly, partially an exclusive boarding school and something like a talent agency. With the right grades and application, one received a stunning education while being thrust into the spotlight as a star singer.
Lee Soo Man was always on the hunt for new talent, and if they were well-educated and had multiple skills, he liked them all the more. Training and schooling his own star picks from the most promising students in South Korea, he had a startling stable of talent at his disposal. It was approaching monopoly status, in fact, SM artists were the best of the best.
Lee Soo Man would tolerate no less.
The fact that Taemin could already dance and sing pleased him immensely. Taemin could play piano too, but he hadn’t mentioned that yet… He was still taking lessons, still not sure he was good enough at it, and he certainly didn’t want to brag.
“We feel that you are just what we are looking for, and would be delighted if you would agree to attend Shinhwa and allow us to help you find your perfect career.”
Taemin blinked, wavering in his chair. “Sir?”
“You’ve been accepted, lad, pack up your things… We already have a room assignment for you, and don’t worry, your roommate is an older student. He’ll be able to answer any questions you have. Your current credits and lessons will be transferred to our school, though I’m sure that will go without incident.”
“I’ve been accepted?”
“We expect you at the Academy next week, I’ll leave your tickets and instructions with your family after the final consultation. Everything will be ready for you when you get home.” Lee Soo Man smiled as he stood, accepting Taemin’s bow and shaking his hand. “I look forward to seeing you at school.”
“Yes sir, thank you sir.” Taemin echoed, staring at the CEO’s back as reality crashed over him.
Things were finally looking up. He was IN!
