i see it as a win for the standard of criminal trials

The prosecution in a criminal trial has a heavy burden. They have to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt. This is much greater than in a civil trial, where the plaintiff merely has to show they are correct according to a preponderance of the evidence. Jackson had too much money to get convicted. Maybe in the civil trial. Like OJ. Of course OJ was a black man who only wanted to be a white man. Jacko is a black man who became a white man, so no sane jury can convict him. That's just too American and stereotypical for words.

Wasn't the official charge about the alcohol something like "serving alcohol to minors with the intent of molestation" or something along those lines? That's why he wasn't guilty of the alcohol charge-- the prosecution went all or nothing, and they got nothing.

Yep, it was with the intent of soliciting molestation.

I'm amused that many members of the jury are now saying they are sure he molested someone at some point, but that they are doubtful he ever molested this particular boy.

Haha, it amuses me too. Everyone knows he's a weirdo with a thing for little boys, but this is one little boy that can't be proved.
