Reading your stuff makes me happy, plain and simple. Even when your stuff makes me sad, it still makes me happy. Because I can tell you care about all of these characters and put in much time and effort to make then real and three-dimensional and complicated. And I root for them as much reading this as I would watching the show itself.
This exchange was just...guh, so...it pushed so many of my buttons in a good way and really got me jonesing for the next chapter:
“You know what’s funny?” he asked you.
“What?”
“That I always thought that all the work had to happen before we got married; I never thought we could work through something…like this…together.”
I don't feel stupid saying this: this was one of the very first fics I read when I found the QAF fandom in 2005 shortly after I finished watching the series for the first time (in a crazy 2-week marathon), and because of that, I have an attachment to this fic that is separate from most of my other faves. Having this be one of my first QAF fic experiences set the bar high for me and relatively few others have matched in terms of quality and characterization. I think I can safely say there is no way I will quit this story before you finish it, no matter how long that takes.
I just read 44 and 45 together. They're brilliant! I love how you've truly brought the story to this special place for Brian and Justin, despite all else going on around them.
The world is changing for both of them and they're able to truly see a future together as they work through their past and all they've been through.
GUH. I read both chapters just now, and, god. Amazing, amazing, amazing. Alan's funeral was such a moment of catharsis, of pain and beauty, and everything that happened after... God. Brian's calm, Justin's realizations -- they're on the same page. They're together.
Yes! "...I always thought that all the work had to happen before we got married; I never thought we could work through something…like this…together.” Wonderful chapter with reminders of everything that makes this series so wonderful! (teeheehee...The fridge! "you just wished you could think of a way to explain that to him that didn’t involve mentioning the refrigerator in the first place.)
oh the fridge has a such a special place in my heart, too. all that passive-agressive appliance mojo. it knows not the hell it reeks. lol. thank you for the feedback, truly.
