Jenny turns around as she enters her ship, checking to see if Cavilo is still following. It's almost strange, not having Bart (or Edward or Alice) in the shuttle with her. Someone new instead - and it's been a while since she's really had a chance to show off ( Read more... )

Cavilo observes the reluctance, and doesn't mind it at all.

"So this is where we're going?" she asks, tapping the screen.

Jenny nods. "Yeah. It's relatively recent, meant for iron miners on the Nise's moon."

"And a home for those that don't actually want to live on planet," Jenny adds in, slowly spinning around within her chair. "Don't get why. More room to explore on a planet."

"And a transfer stop too, looks like," she continues, scrolling down the page. "The station's run by the ... Zavash," sounding out the name. "That's the corporation that owns the mine. Corporate-owned. That's always interesting."

Cheerfully: "Well, it means they don't have to act like a government. No laws but their own regulations."

Jenny nods slowly.

"So?"

"So I've been a few places like that," she says, "and it's usually pretty interesting. We'll see if this place matches up."

It means that corruption is likely to be so prevalent as to be a system in and of itself; the only question is whether they're furtive and stealthy about it, or as open about it as the Jacksonians. There's a different approach required, depending on that question.

Pulling her legs up on to the seat and folding them, Jenny nods. She's travelled a lot, but Cavilo certainly seems to know a thing or two herself. "I like interesting."
