After giving myself a week to think things over, my facebook account has been wiped clean and is starting its 14-day cooldown to deletion. The last straw was spending almost an hour carefully going through all the fine print and settings to say "no" to all sharing with 3rd-party sites, then going to read an article on CNN only to see my facebook

Facebook and Myspace scare me. I appreciate that LiveJournal remains (at least to my knowledge) unGoogleable if you choose to be.

Hope you weren't feeling too abandoned with the exodus of people we know from livejournal to facebook.

I don't know how to prove one isn't being datamined for profit or even if its possible to control the way society is rapidly transforming at this point, but this was my one small protest against the bait-and-switch that site has done for purposes of turning me into a database entry for sale.
