Entry 15

Oct 12, 2010 21:54

[Nagi, as usual, is not at the house he's been assigned to. He's at 1492 Kramden with Schuldig for the time being and when the phone call starts early in the morning, it's not speech that broadcasts, it's the sound of shattering glass, splintering wood, and objects crashing against the walls. One particularly loud noise comes when the bed breaks ( Read more... )

Boyo. [He speaks loudly, trying to get Nagi's attention onto the phone. He's concerned about the boy, not that he'll show that directly.]

Huh?

]Only now does he notice that the phone fell off the hook and Nagi sighs loudly. Just great -- the entire town heard that.]

Phone. [He's not sure if Nagi's noticed the phone or if he's just going 'huh' about hearing his voice.]

I saw the phone.

[And he's closer to it now, but he still doesn't sound calm, which is remarkably unNagi-like.]

[Miakis doesn't think much of all the noise at first, assuming it's just someone leaving their phone off the hook again, but the sound of Nagi's voice gives her pause. He could just be flaunting his power again, but something doesn't seem right.]

Eh? Nagi? You okay over there...?

It's not your house. You don't need to know.

[There's a frustrated sigh here; of course Nagi would have to be difficult about it.]

I just want to know if you're all right! You don't sound so good.

[Schuldig and sympathy don't mix together very well. So when he's woken from a sound sleep by the sound of Nagi ripping his room to shreds - a room in Schuldig's house, which regardless of its uncomfortable domesticity the telepath has grown proprietary of - his response is only to worry about what the hell is wrong with Nagi in a rather angry sense.]

What are you doing? [The purely telepathic communication - even though they're only a few rooms apart - is part lazy refusal to drag himself out of bed, and part prudence in not wanting to get anywhere near Nagi while the boy is demolishing things at random.]

[Now that he's awake, the sounds of damage are stopping and he's trying to gather his control once again. Nagi's not bothered by the poke into his mind, though he's not sure he needs to answer -- fragments of the nightmare that caused this are still bouncing around his mind clearly.]

I didn't do it deliberately.

[Schuldig is momentarily silent; one assumes he's sifting through the bits of nightmare still clinging to Nagi's mind. He still sounds irritable when his voice speaks in Nagi's head again, but in a more subdued fashion; no one who's been at Rosenkrüs escapes without nightmares.]

You're lucky this place doesn't have anything valuable to break.

[Between that hell, his past, and the painful memories of Tot, there are a lot of things in Nagi's head that are perfect for causing nightmares. He just hasn't had one on this scale in quite a while.]

Nothing outside of the bedroom was damaged. I woke up before it got to that point.

[Crawford doesn't have nightmares, but he's intimately acquainted with the way they sound. He's also completely aware of the noises each member of Schwarz makes when distressed.

And he hasn't been sleeping.

So he waits for the end of the crashing, the settling of the violent mental battle he's vaguely listening to in the darkness of his own 'home,' before properly lifting the receiver and speaking in a familiarly directive tone.]

One of them has you, Nagi?

Uninjured.

[Physically fine, mentally a mess.]
