Winter’s Promises

Spring and summer gave way to fall and then to winter.

The secret garden that Mary, Dickon and Colin had tended so lovingly lay buried underneath the snow.

Dickon, who knew the most about such things, assured the others that the garden was not dead but sleeping.  That deep in the frozen ground bulbs and seeds rich with the promise of next years garden, waiting for their time to come.

It seemed to Mary that the three of them were like those seeds and bulbs.  They were young, and still becoming but within them slumbered the promise of what was to come.  Something created of Colin’s vast imagination, Dickon's wisdom and Mary’s determination.  Something that would come to blossom in its own time, beautiful and life altering as their garden.
