Wish I could log in to comment on this, but the PG-13 rating somehow prevents my 17 year-old self from seeing this while logged in. :3
This has to be my favorite quote from the whole thing: "Kirill would remember tomorrow that he had needed to touch Nikolai so badly he was whimpering like a child. He would remember and the shame would make him that much harder on himself, that much easier for Nikolai to control."
It so neatly explains the Kirill/Nikolai dynamic that I've been trying to put into words since I first saw the movie.

I'm so glad I found this! I absolutely adore the way you write the dynamic between these two. I especially enjoyed all the calculating thoughts that plague Nikolai, even when they're practically alone, even when he's under the influence of multiple chemical substances. You so beautifully write his frustration with having to give up the normal life he glimpsed for an instant with Anna, and with having to prop out and watch out for Kirill. But there's pain and frustration for both of them in this situation, but neither wants to reveal the extent of that frustration. Who knew how intense a weird, technically one-sided slash pairing can be?

I love the whole dynamic between Nikolai and Kirill- how Nikolai is essentially a moral man who finds himself in a position where he is forced to be actively deceptive and Kirill's suppressed desire that comes out in anger and desperate attempts to retain power in the relationship.

An interesting look at those moments after the end of the film. I especially liked--
He may as well give his tenderness to Kirill, there was no one else.
--as it so clearly delineates not only what Nikolai has lost, but what Kirill so desperately needs.

And this--
"You are my underworld," Nikolai whispered. "You are my Hades, and I am yours.”
--is a beautiful line to end on. Very, very nice, and so apropos.
